We were running 45.2 knots/nautical MPH aka 51MPH at 5500 RPM I was expecting it to go at least 50 knots/nautical MPH aka 57-58 mph. Engines conditions are not that great actually that's why I want to swap them as soon as I buy the boat, if I even buy it, shall see what kind of speed I can get with better 350s w/ new props.
Since I don't know where it comes from I will check for the hook in the bottom aswell thank you very much for all the answers. They are also known to have issues with the ignition coils. So it would be a good idea to make sure you’re running on all 12 cylinders. Was one engine lagging the other? If you know they are healthy, they can be turned up to 345hp with a tune. The government cracked down on those but you may still be able to get them done. |
Let me correct myself we were actually running at 5800 RPM and not 5500. Also the engines are running fine, they just got too much hours on them for my liking. They will be checked by someone of trust before I move anyway, but as I said I'm gonna swap them for bigger ones. I don't know about the tune since I'm under French laws but I heard it was possible. Still gonna swap them, 350s have reinforced pieces I believe.

Ive been told 18 month wait on new Merc outboards. |
Someone I know recently swapped 350s with 400 hours or less on them for 400s. Wont be getting new ones, not in my budget .
