New Cigarette products from MIBS
Without all the brand angst and interpersonal battles, can we discuss the new product teasers from Cigarette at MIBS? Someone in the other thread said they showed glimpses of the new yacht and PWC's. Despite all of the mixed feelings about the new owners and branding strategy, etc., I'm still really curious to see or hear about what's coming. Did anyone get any pics of the new designs or a good look that they'd care to describe?

No wasted time or funding on PWC graphic design
:) |
I hear they're going to be expanding their reach into the youth market.

People love the rand but a little logo over kill ?

Cig said they are going to build the waverunner in house. It’s going to be gas electric. They are $37,000 and should be done in 2 years. As of Friday morning they had 45 $2500 deposits.

This is a joke right? |
while I don’t agree with the approach for cigarette to bring pwc’s to market (think it cheapens the brand)…there is undoubtingly a market for them.
think of the many yacht owners with jet ski’s for instance. which now that I think of it…many yachts have low end spark sea doo’s and old Yamahas. Nevertheless there is a market. cigarette isn’t looking to sell tens of thousands of them..they don’t need too. the most interesting thing for me would be what do they plan to use for an engine/power train. Are they partnering with someone for a one off design. Or are they re-purposing a Yamaha/rotax engine. If it’s the latter…I think the interest level would be low. would be cool to see concept art and specs… |
An electric jetski is....... Well I shocked the hell out of myself jumpstarting a jetski in salt water, and that was a little 12v battery. Knowing the abuse jetskis take and how we used to break stuff and knock stuff loose all the time... no thank you.

I read $27K for the jet ski, not $37k
All electric would be cool as hell, plug in to shore power to recharge. All the tq all at once . No messing with oil changes and combustion engine breakdowns. Not surprised they have a bunch of deposits already. Can take way more abuse than a combustion engine. Batteries and a motor , simple. I like it . |

Found what I was looking for in different videos from the show. Caught some glimpses of the new cruiser - looks like it will be dubbed the 65 Stealth. I was less interested but still curious about the PWC's, so I guess now it's just wait and watch.

Cigarette jet skis???
I thought this was a joke. Secret is, it is. Bla, ha, ha! Jet skis, hilarious! |
sadly my rendering was accurate 🤷🏻♂️

The 65 yacht looks pretty badass I think.
|
maybe it`s because I like red/black combo colors but this thing this sick!!
Unless they stick a bunch of ugly outboards on it , then it will be ruined . https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...3414707ee2.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...43e3732b0d.jpg |

I was less enthusiastic by the yacht offering but that looks pretty bad ass. |

It runs in O/B's but that are hidden under hatch to keep clean lines...love the idea for this boat. https://i.imgur.com/tSvKTjR.jpg |
I know you have to evolve to stay relevant -i just hope they dont dilute what they are in my mind, and the minds of many customrs - A beautiful boat, with simple, classically inspired lines. Never the fastest to the card stop, certainly not one for progressive designs, sparse cabins that all non-cig owners berate, too many logos and yet a passion inspiring brand.
Time will tell. I wish the towels were cheaper. |

Why on earth would they put outboards on that instead of a pair of diesels?

Money no object would any of you buy a cigarette catamaran right now? Or would you opt for a company that has been building fast cats for over 10 years like Skater, MTI, Mystic, etc. Same question with a cigarette jetski and a cigarette yacht.
In my opinion all that cigarette goodwill is only good for your standard cigarette v-hull. They should stick with what they are known for because it will take them a decade to develop brand loyalty for a catamaran or a yacht or even a jet ski. They should make an outboard option for all their current models and launch two smaller models like a 33 and a 29 or bring back some of the old shorter models like the 30 mystique and 33 Cafe Open/Ocean Hawk. |

I would all day as they are buying a trusted model just like like ones you mentioned. Staying the status que is how companies close as they failed to stay with what is current. |

Yacht, depends on if it offered anything better then the competition, I wouldn't do it just because it has a CIG badge on it but I bet there are a lot that will. When it comes down to it what I think means nothing, I am not in the league of the people that will be purchasing these items and I learned long ago I think much different then that class does. Kind of like us wishing they would bring some smaller boats back, why when you can make a higher margin on the larger stuff. I am sure they will do just fine. |

Timely - i just ran across this. A fall from go-fast boat glory if there ever was one!! |

Yet still in business selling like hot cakes. I have a dealer less than a mile from me that can't keep these dumb things in stock they sell so fast. I agree they are dumb but from a business standpoint they are certainly are not . |

I agree they can be fun, we had a jet boat before a real boat. They have they pros. |

That's what we had before the Sonic. Twin engine Yamaha |

Speaking of the tender garage - a pair of Cigarette PWC's would be a natural fit for a boat like this and that's where the whole lifestyle/branding approach begins to make perfect sense.

Donzi - I understand that changing their 1970's 22 classic rounded hull to more of a 1980's pad hull was quite successful. Nortech, Velocity, Hustler and I'm sure some others I can't think of have all come out with big 38-42ft outboard boats kind of a crossover day boat/performance boat. Howard's best seller is a v-hull catamaran hybrid 25ft boat that can surf and go fast so they were quite successful in adding an old V to an old cat. Nothing particularly "new" or innovative about coming out with a jetski unless I'm missing something. |

Are you saying Fountain splashed his? Or you saying Fountain came up with the Pillini? Is the Fountain 34 cat based on the Pillini? I thought Statement ended up with the Pillini 34' situation. |
