Not ignorant at all—it's a good question.

Mr. Szolack's modus operandi is to always have a new boat under construction. He usually sells them shortly after they are finished, but he's sold more than a few without even running them.

As reported in the story, his first 44-foot Doug Wright cat is in lamination now. Also as reported, there are two 39-foot raceboats to be laid up ahead of his first 39-foot pleasure cat so his first one likely won't be out of lamination until the end of the year.

If the build process from lamination to sea trial takes a year—and I'm just pulling out a figure for the purpose of discussion—Mr. Szolack has 12 years worth of builds (with deposits down) to see through. But that's OK. He loves the process.

PBC is a Cig dealer as well. PBC bought a few new Cigs and did the paint and finishing on them, but nothing like the deal with Doug Wright where they are buying hulls and doing everything.
I'm guessing there is a good chance that Cig may do something similar in the future with the with the DW cats.

In one of the SOTW articles about the acquisition.......

Performance Boat Center—the Osage Beach, Mo., a multi-brand dealership that carries the Cigarette line—also has been purchasing hulls from Doug Wright for its own Wright Performance line of outboard engine-powered catamarans.

“We will continue to supply Doug Wright hulls to Performance Boat Center, as long as it is mutually beneficial.” said Christiansen, who negotiated both deals.

I'm glad all these guys are buying OB cats- Maybe the used CC market will come down to reality slightly.
But I would imagine most of these are their 2nd or 3rd boats in the stable. Anybody w a 34 NT they are bored with yet??? Promise to luv it and keep it warm
Come on Spring
