Gentry Eagle is out of the water
Rumor is that some one bought it, pretty cool seeing the Arneson drive with 35" prop, she is going to need a lot of love
Would be awesome if she does get some Gentry Eagle - 114' World's Fastest Motoryacht https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...6fabdd0c5.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...a833cdf4f.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4038291a4.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...71160fb99.jpeg |
Wonder what it looks like on the inside ?
|
A LOT of love. Gotta wonder how many of the mechanical parts and pieces are obsolete. Not to say on-offs couldn’t be reproduced but someone would really have to be motivated to bring it back.
|
Boy does this bring back some memories. I was part of the crew that brought her to Florida from Nova Scotia.
|
You know in the 80’s that ship at 73 mph would’ve out ran a lot of boats. Imagine looking over your shoulder and seeing that big fker coming up on you. 😳
|
I also would like to see what the interior looks like.
Nothing that time and money can’t bring back to life. I’m guessing 5 million to rehab it back to new |

Five 600's and you're back in business.
|
I remember its transatlantic run...was in all the papers and magazines of the day...truly incredible. Mr. Gentry was an incredibly talented and driven man.

Here’s a pretty cool 6 min video or it running etc. What an incredible man and life he must have had. If he were still alive the money it would take to revive the Gentry Eagle would be chunk change.

Not photos of the day it was finished posted in a sale ad to sell it. |
I'd like to have the 20 years worth of docking fees.
|
The bottom looks to clean for 20 years in the saltwater and the sacrificial anode on the surface drive rudder looks close to new.
EDIT Or it was just pressure washed. |
Was on the boat about a month ago its too far gone for repair been setting for 25 years when i was there you counldn't tell there was an areson drive on the boat it was covered with barnicals and bird ****. It was still in the water at that time. It was a very sad day for me i was there with a gentelman that was interested in bringing her back to life but was too far gone. Last i talked to norman gentry was that is was going to get scraped. I was lucky enough to have gotten a ride on it back just befor tom had his accident.

wow, 11,500 hp! 1 4500 hp turbine and 2 3500 hp diesels!
|
It seems the plan is to float her down to Long Beach in a week. Bought by the Weier family in Pasadena, who's got a product placement company on the stock exchange in Canada since 6 months back. This can't be good for future annual reports.

Lars, are with the FBI or something, the information you can gather is a bit scary!
I can't even imagine the work or the cost to get that boat back into pristine condition. |
Might be cheaper than buying new ! Family money is probably separate than the corporate holdings. If I had a big ol wad of endless money, I would take it on. Why not? It is a piece of marine history. I watch these guys bid $100,000+ on cars that have been restored and might have costs $3-4000 brand new, then they sit in a super nice man cave or get trailered to shows.
|
Absolutely agree!
If I had the that kind of disposable cash I would rather do a restoration on that, than buy new |
Although it was designed and built for one reason only I could see it getting auctioned off for 100m after restoration. Lots of ridiculous money and people nowadays. $$$$$$$$$$
|
4 C32Bs on surface drives would push it.
I didn’t know M Benz did marine diesel. |
That's a huge boat and a huge project wow
|
Just went by there, it's still in the yard. It's a big 'ol beast too. You really don't get how big it is, especially out of the water, from pics. The bow is actually sticking out of the dry dock into the parking lot LOL
This restore isn't sounding too promising. Dude buying it is trying to figure out how to secure a tug and locate a dock. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...d761bef3c.jpeg |
That thing would be great in Florida run it down the ICW, those jet intakes could suck a whole Manatee in and spit the chum out!

Wowsers! Thank you for the wonderful memories.
I was fortunate enough to see this boat up close at Greenwich Yacht Club ( if memory serves correctly), just prior to its UK Voyage. I was a 13 year wide eyed offshore fanatic, buddy & I took the 13' Whaler across the sound to sneak in to the club for lunch, part of our usual summer routine. We didn't know Gentry would be there, but upon arrival, after a few moments of drooling in awe, a very kind (Crew member?) told us all about it and showed us the boat. I clearly remember the pizza sized props, this gentleman went into great detail about them. |
Where’s the link to the listing???

Thread on RDP posted a link to a facebook page or some social media outlet that stated it would be cut up for scrap as the sale did not go through.
|
So sad
|
Any pictures of the inside anywhere?
