Completely different scenario. The money lost was just stock valuations on a IPO. Going to jump around a bunch initially. Facebook was a great example.

Yea only 10 Bil! From the article, don't we all wish.
It owns a portfolio of claims with a billed amount of $1.5 trillion, though it says revenue from the business hasn’t yet been substantial. That hasn’t stopped Ruiz, a son of Cuban immigrants, from living a billionaire lifestyle for some time.

He purchased a Boeing 767 previously owned by Qantas Airlines to use as his private jet, the Miami New Times reported in April. The plane once would have flown about 300 people.

After a six-month refit costing almost $10 million, it sports a theater, two lounges, a master bedroom with a full bathroom and shower and space for about 30 guests. The plane is registered to MSP Recovery Aviation LLC, a company controlled by Ruiz that MSP pays for transportation services.

Ruiz and Frank Quesada, the company’s chief legal officer who has a stake in the post-combination company that’s now worth about $3.5 billion, separately own a law firm that will be the exclusive lead counsel for MSP. That positions them to receive 20% of all recovered payments.

I graduated from UM and I've never heard of the guy until he was posted about on OSO. The recent player sponsorship, the influence on getting his brother in law the coaching job have put him in the news. The flying around Miami in the helicopter to scout out new stadium locations, tearing down Gables High School stadium were dumb stories, especially since UM/Gables HS knew nothing about it.

So he owns a medical billing company that has 1.5 trillion in claims but haven't recovered much but when they do recover he gets 20% of the unrecovered amount...............:D

Facebook was a business, millions of users to focus advertising on...........Zuckerberg is a billionaire, yet drives a Honda. Never once have I seen an article where he refers to himself as a billionaire or where he showcases his bling lifestyle.

Ruiz is more like Do Kwon the crypto guy. Kwon self promotes his own products, puts stories out on his wealth/spending and everything is awesome until................its not.

Funny in the article a hedge fund group called Pantera Capital backed/sold early and turned 1.7mm into 170mm before the meltdown.

I am a Gator fan and don't live there and have heard about him and his Canes relations for a couple years now and we'll before OSO and Cigarette.

Maybe get out more?
