I find my depth perception is really screwed at night. Running at speed is a real risk, even in your home waters.

Background lights on shore or if it was close to shore, lights in your own boat ton of things. I would bet the CC was blinged out with all kind of cool looking LED's that simply wreck your night vision.

Stopping then going dark and leaving, if that is true,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, not cool.

1mm+ Nortech and not a nickels worth of integrity
the operator of the powerboat stopped momentarily before turning the boat’s lights off and driving away. The sheriff’s office identified the owner and operator of the boat as Jason Lindemann. He was arrested on 12 counts of recklessly endangering safety and 11 counts of failure to render aid after a boating accident. Recklessly endangering safety is a felony, with each count carrying up to 10 years in prison. Failing to render aid is a misdemeanor.

I found this out last year running right at dusk. In my 30's/40's I boated some at night and knew the waters and could easily make out where I was in relation to the shore, etc. Fast forward to last summer and now at 57 years old as soon as the sun was below the horizon and just as the day was about to lose any remaining light I was immediately confused and disoriented by shoreline lights that I've known for years and couldn't make out which lights were closer/further away to know exactly where I was. Everything blended together. So now I don't even take a twilight cruise like I used to. Not worth it.

There is no excuse to leave an accident you're involved in but alcohol could influence that bad decision.
