1mm+ Nortech and not a nickels worth of integrity
the operator of the powerboat stopped momentarily before turning the boat’s lights off and driving away. The sheriff’s office identified the owner and operator of the boat as Jason Lindemann. He was arrested on 12 counts of recklessly endangering safety and 11 counts of failure to render aid after a boating accident. Recklessly endangering safety is a felony, with each count carrying up to 10 years in prison. Failing to render aid is a misdemeanor. |

I found this out last year running right at dusk. In my 30's/40's I boated some at night and knew the waters and could easily make out where I was in relation to the shore, etc. Fast forward to last summer and now at 57 years old as soon as the sun was below the horizon and just as the day was about to lose any remaining light I was immediately confused and disoriented by shoreline lights that I've known for years and couldn't make out which lights were closer/further away to know exactly where I was. Everything blended together. So now I don't even take a twilight cruise like I used to. Not worth it.
I’m 37 and have been a slow boater almost exclusively at night since 30. I noticed at LOTO I was alarmingly close to other boats cruising at night even though I could see their lights. And I know I’m typically one of the younger captains. |

Certainly that's the most likely explanation for leaving the scene. Knowingly BUI.
I'd rather take the BUI hit than 11 felony charges. You aren't going to hide a 45 Nortech in that area, there are probably 1-2 on that lake/area! Thankfully nobody actually died........can't fix that. |

Many will remember the Donzi ZRC accident nearly 20 years ago in Virginia.
The driver of the ZRC wo was the owner of the dealership was drunk; ran over a cruiser, killed the two people aboard and their dog, and ran, all in the middle of the night. That was the downfall of that dealer, and a real black eye to the offshore powerboaters in the region. Time will tell if the same thing happens here. --- Same lake as above; one night running barely on plane, in my 37AT, I came across two drunk/high redneck idiots in a aluminum boat with NO lights whatsoever. We were lucky to see them. They claimed their battery went dead. I told them I'd call the authorities to get them help. They ADAMANTLY screamed at me not to do so. ...Yet if I'd have hit them, I would have been the *******. I went 5 minutes down the lake, stopped, and called the police on them. F that. I probably saved their life as it was Poker Run weekend, and we were not the only ones out that night. |
Tucking tail and running is chicken**** no matter how you cut it. I've done plenty of night boating, I've crossed Long Island Sound at night more times than I can count, if you aren't slow and hyper vigilant you shouldn't be out at night, it's no joke.

Jeez

He would have been better off sticking around and take the DUI hit .. instead he ran like a chicken....Judges do not take kindly to folks that flee from a scene of an accident where possibly people were left for dead. He is in big trouble no matter who he is or what he has done. And his friends who were in the boat with him are as chicken... as him by not coming forward. That boat is maybe 2-3 months old
