Totally blows me away the price of these production molded CCs these days , clamp 4 eighty thousand dollar motors on the transom of a 50 something CC and its a 2.5 million $ boat ?

I worked building 65 foot + handbuilt custom sportfishing for Paul Mann back in the day, the buildout labor and rigging is night and day apart.

I asked Paul why he never wanted to build 45-50 footers, his answer was it is only a bit more work and cost to build a 65-70 footer and it will sell for 2.5-3 times more than a 50 footer.

I agree with you, but obviously there's a lot of buyers out there that are OK with these prices for CCs. <shrug> I'm certainly not into buying much of *anything* new if I can avoid it, so my opinion doesn't count for much.

65-70 is still 2.5 times what a 50 is:

John and the folks at Mystic are building a boat for me right now in fact it is scheduled to go to paint next week. The whole process has been great. We went to the factory and John gave us a tour and we sat down with everyone and designed everything for the boat including sitting down with painter Doug Harrell who does most of their work I believe. John , Ryan and Greg have been in constant contact with me along the way, a true first class operation. I was considering a Mystic or a Nor Tech and not to say anything bad about Nor Tech but I am extremely happy with my choice so far!
