I know these cats are light but with repeated shock load from re-entry I dont think a bravo would last. Even behind a 400 let alone a 500...

There will be a new engine next year. Go order a boat now and you will get a option for the “new power “

has anyone taken a 450 apart? is there ability to up compression? bigger blower? better heads? better exhaust? or is it all underground so merc does not know?

Not sure about the actual hours....he did mention that he lived on the water and that he used the boat quite frequently.

Anything is possible.

In order of cost effectiveness vs power
pulley
High octane tune up
ported blower
ported heads
custom cams

The Motec option will allow you to do whatever you want and it will be easy to make more power. It’s a game changer on the QC4V….big power is so easy.

Motec software can look intimidating at first glance but once you are acquainted with it…so simple and for a tuner and you’ll never want to use anything else ever again.

I’m adapting to my engines. A few hurdles ahead but I’ll tackle it over the winter.

Something that needs to be brought up here is there,s a cool and unique way to drive a prop shaft....... ONX diesel outboards are using it with great results i think their larger hp model is over 300hp and it has a what looks like a blower belt from propshaft to tranny thu the inside of midcase they must be working as they have a great reputation so far

tmmii 10-22-2022 06:38 PM

Would merc allow it?

If you think Mercury gave out some prototype engines with actual horsepower decals, I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona that you may be interested in.

There’s a reason Mercury went back to and leased Lake X from its current owners.
