distributor cap...wow!

Default distributor cap...wow!

I've owned this boat two years, it's a 2000 model with 500 hours on the clock, has had (2) previous owners. I took advantage of the access provided me with the sunpad off to change the cap and rotor. I swear it is the original! The contacts inside the cap are all but dissolved; there was a plethora of white dust sitting inside the cap on top of the housing.
I don't even know how the thing was firing...

thats normal i only use caps with brass terminals...... look for the tan accell cap, but the real issue is....... break of the coil terminal from the cap you will finds its all burnt out inside
