What is Bespoke? Rolls Royce motor? Bentley? Just a term?
The word bespoke (/bəˈspoʊk/) has evolved from a verb meaning 'to speak for something', to its contemporary usage as an adjective. Originally, the adjective bespoke described tailor-made suits and shoes. Later, it described anything commissioned to a particular specification (altered or tailored to the customs, tastes, or usage of an individual purchaser). In contemporary usage, bespokehas become a general marketing and branding concept implying exclusivity and limited runs.
Who manufactures the long block for Mercury?

Mercury is an OEM with a normal supplier base. They recently heavily invested in internal manufacturing capabilities. I assumed it was for outboards but they may be casting the blocks and heads and manifolds themselves. Cranks rods, pistons, turbos and camshafts are probably from the standard automotive supply base. but they would be in contracts that don’t allow them to sell parts to anyone but Merc.
the snapshot you sent is, I believe, fom the LS based DOHC project. Hence the 7.0L. Not the big turbo qcv4 engine.
Merc clearly has robust design capability now, based on the variety of unique engines they sell. Porsche helped with verado I6, but I’m not sure if they still use outside help like that.

You are definitely correct in that it is bespoke.
The entire engine is metric;
Bore-116mm
Stroke-107mm
Bore spacing-125mm
Notice the odd bore spacing. A Chevy crank does not drop in. It’s also got an 8-bolt flywheel pattern.
Closed valley, non-Chev deck height (no lifters to account for). Diesel-style thermostat in valley controls closed cooling temp)
168T ring gear, Chev-style marine starter and alternator, rod and main bearings are all that is used from The General.

Whats the longevity / rebuild time on these engines. Can they go 1,000+ like the 496's or do they need to be opened up every couple hundred hours like the blue motors. Not that i'll ever be able to afford anything with one of these in it, im just curious.

porsche that designed the inline six verado is also under the amg vw mercedes group. i,m sure they have a heck of an engine design team they have the vr engines the W engines ( Bugatti W16)thats a V8 with an extra 8 cylinders, the inline engines, the standard V engines up to V12, boxers and a few others im forgetting. i have always loved the sound of the vr 5 cylinder engine its a v engine smooched together to 15 degrees with one cylinder head pretty cool design kinda of an inline V was used in many VW,s so it was a smart move to get them involved they build cool ****t that performs and last!
