The boat coming apart that bad is why you don't see Shaun back in a DW from what I've heard. I haven't called him to ask firsthand, but I've heard that's why he's in the MTI now. Every time a DW goes over they're severely damaged. When Ryan Beckley's 30 Skater went over in Cocoa Beach, they raced it the next day.

No doubt that inboard cats handle rough water and stay "hooked up" much better then outboards. I currently have a 36 DW with hydraulic Porta brackets that give me 6 inches of vertical travel and the boat does very well when you drop the motors 3 inches in the LOTO snot. I am paying 7K for insurance now and put 200 hours my boat this year so overall its been inexpensive in comparison to the 24K quote I got for insurance on an 1100 inboard package that I was considering. I will keep outboards for now.

Owned a 24 skater, raced C class back in the early 90's. I have been leaning toward the 700/#6 boats lately. |

A 39TG with bravos vs a #5 Flat Deck same thing , the Top Gun can`t stay hooked up. Calm water he pulls on me slowly... throw in some lake michigan waves and start pulling ahead.
The staggered 39 does not have that problem.Those thing fly great I`d love to have a cat with outboards, F those inboard problems . How long does it take to pull an engine vs an outboard.. probably not relevant as I`m sure anyone who can afford these cats isn`t wrenching on them like my dumb a$$ Okay back to the scheduled program... as offshoredriller would say let the adults talk Dan |

From my experience most of the boats all run somewhere around 100mph-115mph range when running in real world conditions. No doubt if it gets over 2-3' footers the inboard boats have a much more comfortable ride. Not saying some of the outboard boats cant run in those conditions but they are much more at risk of something bad happening than the inboard boats. IMO there is too much emphasis put on top end speed these days as most of it IMO is not real world numbers. In sloppy conditions everyone with O/B's are limited to around 100mph-115mph no matter what you have for length or power and that is you taking a beating.
