Can you imagine if they used the same amount of resources (engineering) to design a modern I/O in the 500-700 HP range?

Of course the power head has no idea its strapped on the back or in a bilge.

Maybe someone will do the reverse of Seven Marine. Take an OB powerhead, design a coupler and some exhaust, lay it down and bolt it in!

That was my first thought.

Looks like they have a new lower unit 6.4" with larger gears. Also uses a new larger diameter Revolution prop.

Should be interesting

By having multiple gearcases in the water splitting the load.

The 565 and 860 aren’t enough for you?

Hard to justify the investment with the I/O market going cold.

I had the same thoughts about adapting these powerheads to stern drives. There was a time when outboards crowding the transoms was frowned upon as an aesthetic. But sticking motors back in bilges just from a manufacturing and rigging standpoint faces an uphill battle. The outboards are winning no doubt.

I'm seriously considering moving over myself. I love my big blocks....but I deep sigh every time I have to do something on them.

I'll give you the 860, but the 565 is just a old BBC.
Compared to the tech in the outboards its a dinosaur.

But I know performance V's are dead so really do not expect anything to happen. I will say from a aesthetics point of view OB's just never flow. But its not like these V-10's are aimed at the small performance market as much as the big heavy CC market.
