Everybody's worst nightmare. Was at Peanut Island this afternoon and caught this. I was on one side, drove around the other and it just happened. No details. I stayed a full 150 yards away. But the boat was beached, then somehow ended up in the water floating east at least 100 yards while full blaze. Took the fire boat a full 20 min to get there. At this point, it was almost down to the water line. Every boat I passed the driver had the o-chit look of fear. Sucks for somebody, Before this, the motor looked like a newer Merc.
However the paddle board dude didnt give 2 chits, homeboy paddled within 20 feet of the blaze like it wasnt even there... I love Floridians...

Wow! You know, in all my years of boating I have only seen (knocking wood!) two boats on fire, one was when a plastic bag on the water intake ultimately caused an engine fire that burned the boat to the waterline, the other was following an explosion at a fuel dock. Never ceases to make you cringe.

Hope no one was hurt.
Things like this are part of the reason I'm a fair weather boater. I want to know that if something goes wrong, fire/sinking that me and my family can just jump overboard with our life jackets and float in nice warm water until help arrives....
That paddleboarder has never gotten a lung full of burning fiberglass smoke. If he had he wouldn't be anywhere near it!!

Two cruisers just burned to the water line on the Ohio River.
One on board received major burns but is lucky to be alive.
From the video it appeared they may have been live aboards.
Possibly from heat sources, like the house fires we get every fall/winter here in Ohio.

Clinton river off Lake St. Clair. We had just pulled away from the gas dock and heard the explosion. The boat that had left the gas dock ahead of us was burning and a bunch of people in the water. We pulled four out and other boats pulled the rest. By the time all eight occupants were out of the water the wood hulled boat was burned to the waterline. Frightening.

Check out the video cam footage from the gas station camera.
