Lifting Strake Question
#11
But the ultimate issue is something is amiss with your particular boat and/or driving style. These boats do not chine walk at 50, 60, or 70 mph. And I'm talking bone stock, cable steering, Bennett tab boats. But you seem to want to refuse to believe that.

as I replyed before, stop wasting your money, dont want to sound like a broken record ,but I have owned 3-290s over the years, worked with the factory closely for this issues among other issues, you will not be able to correct it, they ALL chine walk under the right conditions no matter what ANYONE tells you, I am here to tell you external steering, adding bigger Tabs, 4 blades, 5 blades will not get rid of the chine walk, they will hide it and move it to another speed!
stop wasting your time and use the boat as it was designed, a go out and enjoy the day on the water, this boat was not designed/splashed to be a rocket!

That's my saber! Don't think lifting strakes are your problem. I've had other boats without the strakes running all the way to transom and didn't have issues with chine walk after I figured out how to drive boat correctly. Drivesync/trimsync may help you run your drives at exactly same height, they never move exactly the same so unless your looking back and making sure water coming out of props at same level you won't know that. Mechanical indicators are not precise either. Weight distribution can play a role as well.
So far, this is the only time I've seen drive alignment mentioned. A few times getting the tabs and drives to the indicators etc.
If the drives are not aligned for up/down trim, it would make sense that the hull would lift to the opposite side, get pushed back by the lift strake, and back and forth creating the chine walk issue.

Tartilla, Man I hate reliving some of these posts I started. Between Knot4me talking about my "particular boat and/or driving style" which admittedly I don't have any style, BBYSTWY asking about a "hull guy with super secret squirrel sh!t ideas for how to add strakes to the bottom and then not tell anyone" is a throwback to another disasterous post of mine, and who the fu*k is Jim Darr?? I should assume that I have been insulted but not really sure. Anyway, the boat is running fine. I do have some issues when running over boat wakes that are parallel to my path but maybe a lot of boats do.
