Ive had 150+ mefi1 thru 4s thru my hands that I mail order tuned, tuned on water or tuned on my dynoed etc thru the years, Ive seen 2 bad mefi 1s off same boat, same engine so clearly theres something on that boat killing them, told the owner (that I strictly did programming on them) to change harness, a mefi4 that wouldnt turn on the fuel pump relay which we fixed with a hobbs switch on oil pressure, a regular mefi 4 that was cooked that got powered backwards on a 305 omc in a cruiser, the mefi4 that I bought off OSO that cant be programmed because it has a part number that doesnt exist (has a DK in part number which bob at mefi burn told me is developmental) then the 3 I bought that was smoked but was sold as is and told by seller he never tested it (I have my suspicions he knew it was smoked but just played dumb). So for most part unless they get zapped backwards or spent serious time under water I dont see alot of bad ones. Since mercruiser hasnt really used one since around 2001, 2002 they are becoming very hard to find. They pop up here and there for 800, 850 BUT thats a roll of the dice unless you trust the seller, Smitty

I think I still have my old MEFI 1 kicking around. Will prob need programming. ASM programmed it for a procharger which didn’t the programming didn’t work that well. Someone wants it make me an offer. I pulled it to go carb back when I had a pet Dinosaur. Lol.
