Just a tip from inside the industry..... This may sound simple.... Do you think your boat insurance is too high now???? If so, do your part in NOT posting these accidents all over the internet. Absolutely NOTHING good comes of posting.. Nothing good for those involved in the accident(s), and certainly nothing good for YOUR insurance rates. Come on guys...

There is some good to come from reading of these accidents, it’s awareness with other boat operators. Not calling out this particular crash but the more that’s posted, the more we think about safety and how easy it is for things to go wrong. Reminders to boaters on all levels to wear life jackets, connect safety lanyards, speed, alcohol, night boating, submerged objects, other boaters, mechanical failures etc, etc. Just my opinion but awareness may help reduce accidents and injuries which could help to control spiraling insurance costs. Tim G is partially correct as is Griff. Tim has likely seen boat deals evaporate because the buyer couldn't get affordable coverage or maybe even coverage at all.
Face it, there are literally a handful of companies that even insure boats with more than 600+ HP combined. While these performance boat crashes tend to be spectacular splashy headlines, in reality they are losing more CC's to theft/stripping than all the crashes combined. Its like watching a supercar crash compilation on youtube, millions in cars but in reality if you total up F150 crashes in a single year that would easily surpass the supercars total. Nobody cares about a wrecked F150 or a triple engine Boston Whaler that disappeared from a dock.........not splashy headlines. We have seen plenty of tragedies on this site over the years, likely nothing written here will prevent another one. Everybody runs out of talent eventually........some sooner than others. |
True how many OB's get stolen in S Florida alone per year?
