Hey Brad thank you for all your effort! I will do exactly like you wrote in your last thread. I have one more question as a lot of people had problems with cool fuel modules. As they are describing there was paint issue which was going off the housing and directly in the fuel lines to the injectors… what has Smitty found in the filters of injectors? Paint from the cool fuel system or something else was blocking the injectors?
Thank you a lot!!!!

It appeared to have been fine rust particulates. No paint that I could see. My guess is that this was the result of long periods of non-use. We bought the boat, an '02 model, in 2020, with only 143 hours on the meter. That works out to about 7hrs/yr. I think the fuel had been allowed to collect moisture for long periods of time, leading to the rust particles in the fuel rail and injectors. I worry about how much might still be in the tank, and have thought about having the tank pumped and scoped, but have yet to take that initiative.
Thanks. Brad.

I am really disappointed as there was complete rebuild done and today I called the guys if they inspected injectors and ofcourse the answer was no. Next to does are: check the spark on all cylinders, checking the injectors, checking fuel filter if there is some paint inside…

Report of the day:
- today we have tested the injectors and the report showed that they are in perfect condition, the boat maximum speed is still around 45 mph
- I tried a balance test and there was a loss of power on each cylinder. I tried at 1500 RPMs under load all cylinders and there was a loss of power on each cylinder when I unpluged the sparks,
Current situation:
- compression is okay on every cylinder around 165 PSI,
- balance test shows nothing,
- we have tested fuel pressure which is constant at 43 PSI through the RPMs,
- we have changed the spark plugs,
- there is no debris in filter or injectors,
- computer doesnt show errors,
- computer shows that all the sensors are working.
Problem:
- boat doesnt have power,
- the fuel economy seems high to me (not 100 procent sure on this bullet point but that is my feeling)
- there is a smell of gasoline when driving slow or in neutral,
- there is strange sound when you take off the gas probably from not working ioc sensor… can be this a cause to all of the problems even computer shows nothing?

Fuel pressure looks good. Have you done an injector test? A Rinda Techmate Pro will allow you to perform a cylinder dump test for the injectors the same as you did for ignition. Although, this doesn't coincide with the smell of gas, you could be having misfires on the injectors.
When you changed plugs, what did the old plugs look like?
It may be time to have the ECM checked. They do go bad on occasion, and the injectors may be being given too long a pulse. Are there any markings on the ECM than might indicate the tune has been modified? I would venture to say there is a strong smell of gas above idle as well, you're just leaving it behind you at any speed above an idle.
Can you get a video of the "strange sound" that occurs when you let off the throttle? A Techmate will allow you to check the IAC valve, as well. There are numerous threads here on OSO discussing the 496's IAC valve. If memory serves, it is a Ford MotorCraft part, and is easy to get and easy to install. I'm not sure a bad IAC would affect anything above an idle, but it's worth checking into.
Thanks. Brad.

One more.... How did you test the injectors?
Thanks. Brad.

we tested the injectors on the injector cleaner and tester it showed that all the injectors are spraying equal. I got all the pictures and videos of the work they did.

All of 8 injectors had the same results.

The only one weird spark plug to me was this one!
Yes like you said I think there is also a smell of gas behind me when i go a little bit faster but I can not smell it. Regarding the ECM there is no sign that it was tuned or something. That can be an easy test if I get one ECM from other engine and test it I will try to get it from someone… I was looking for TechMate here in Slovenia but it is not an easy job to get it. I am on the boat only for weekends so I will send you a video on the weekend…
I have one more thing on my mind. I installed this spark plugs in could be that they are not okay? NGK TR 55 V POWER
