my 32 sunsation has them, I know joe and Wayne only did it for a short time, not sure what the pros or cons are tho

Mine too. They called them K-plane stabilizers and they're meant to bite in while turning to help prevent spinning out. One of the factory guys said to remove them this spring so I did but kept them incase I ever want to put them back on.

Based on the angle and the drilled holes on the plate in the photo example I’m suspecting more sinister reasons.🥸 Back to the holes- remember drilling angled holes in your skimboard to shoot a water stream tail 😜? Now imagine dropping that tab while slightly turning the opposite direction of the dropped tab so the lateral forces are shooting streams of water in that direction.. (of course not while passing a blow boater or sea lice giving you the one finger salute. I’m responsible for my wake…) Twisted dream…

Don’t underestimate what the lateral force of the perpendicular rail could be achieving. 🤔
