Perfectly written Brad!

Was trying to post similar last night but the site wouldn’t let me.

I was trying to find my white privilege card when I was 19 and living in an unheated garage here in Ohio one winter.
I remember it getting down to 9* at night.

Got fired from my job due to not hearing my alarm after spending the last 2 nights in my car.
Had too many blankets and sleeping bags on to hear it!

Funny, never thought to blame anyone but myself!

Ask the actor, Morgan Freeman what he thinks of opportunities to black folks here in the states!
Raised on a share croppers farm in Alabama!

He made a choice that he wasn’t satisfied w/that life and look what happened!

I have a nephew that I am proud to have been involved in getting him on his feet.

Although he is white, his surroundings and home life was the same as everyone else begging for govmnt hand outs.

His parents are both crackheads.

Mom is in jail and his dad wants nothing to do w/him.

None of his siblings have done any better.

When he became involved w/our niece (also from a ugly situation) he and I had a come meet Jesus meeting.

I told him of some of my challenges, bad decisions, struggles etc, while finding my way and you could see the light bulb come on!

Told him, every bad decision was mine and mine alone.
I never blamed anyone else.

Told him that I hated the saying that “people don’t change”.

He believed me when I told him that I knew if I didn’t make some lifestyle changes I would end up in jail or 6’ down!

Told him you don’t go apply for a job, you clean yourself up, go knock on a door and sell yourself.

He totally got it.

I almost cried when he told me how excited he was to have landed a job as a security officer at a Walmart!
Let that sink in a minute.

That was several yrs ago.

He has since, continued to advance, married our niece and has a 2 yr old baby girl!

He absolutely glows when we talk now.

Point being, he grew a set, made a decision, and changed his life!

Had fkg nothing to do w/his skin color!

Thx again Brad!

PS, my office sends me into the hood of Cols Ohio all the time and I absolutely hate it!

I feel like a recovering drug attic going into the devels den!

Seeing, meeting, dealing w/people that have absolutely no drive!
Just sucks the life out of me.

And then you see/hear the agenda of the left and it just infuriates you!

The local media is complicit.

Three black people shot by black people last night in Cols!
Averaging a shooting every night.

Again, black people shooting black people.

But when a white officer is involved w/apprehending a black thug, it’s all over the news for days!!

Last one was the armed, wanted thug, trying to get the officers gun!

Now they have a black truck driver who ran from the police for 20 mls before being pulled over, he had a record as well, he tried to run and one of the K9 officers turned his dog loose in him.

All the news has reported, non stop, for the wk since it happened is, “white K9 officer has his dog attack a black man”!
As in, non stop in the news.

He has now hired famous ambulance chaser, Ben Crump to attack the police dept!

They have already held protests (attended by ever woke, millennial aged white woman), released the home address of the cop, who has been fired!

Then after the station break the news reports Cols struggle w/the violence (guns fault) and lack of new police recruits!

Talk about hypocrisy…..

Was in my truck at a light in Cols yesterday and was watching these two thugs.
They we’re standing 10’ from my truck.

Poor picture but, the guy on the left has his hair done as Mickey Mouse and his buddy, holding his pants up, is wearing a black ski mask!

BTW, it was 94* in Cols yesterday!

What could possibly go wrong?

But you know if anyone says a word, they will be shouted at as a R A C I S…..

Typical bull**** these days, each "side" digging in their heels unwilling to acknowledge the other side might have a point too. So predictable.

I grew up in a strong, loving and supportive family environment and while like everyone else, I've faced my share of challenges and ups and downs, I have nothing but gratitude for the life that I have been able to live so far. I lived and worked in North America for 17 years and had a great experience overall with many lifelong friendships - most of them are white by the way. Yes - I had a (very, very) few run-ins with overt racism but those were by far the exception rather than the norm and the sort of idiots involved generally tended to have their own sets of issues and got into conflicts with all sorts of people. My father was a military man and believed in discipline and hard work and self-sufficiency, but above all else he loved and cherished his family. So no - I'm not not part of "the problem" nor do I see myself as having any kind of solution. I do agree with you about politics being a major contributing factor - but with me it's not only the extreme left / Al Sharpton style of pandering and profiting from keeping black people in a state of perceived victimhood; it's the extreme wings of BOTH parties callously pandering to negative attitudes and paradigms of their respective bases so they can cling to power without a shred of care or regard for actually changing or improving anything. I actually feel bad locking horns with you because outside of this entrenched-stake, polarized type of discussion, I sense that you're a decent man and that we'd agree about most things as long as we stay away from politics and probably religion as well.
Onwards and forward...
Topical Buzz,

The problem IS, in FACT, that the black community has not taken their bull by the horns and made themselves prosperous, but the Al Sharptons of the political sphere keep them thinking it's not their responsibility and obligation to do so. You're standing with them; those that riot instead of working on their own self-inflicted barriers to success. You're baldly asserting that we "Had this coming", as if we somehow contributed to their incentives to act like animals. So you, by your own admission, ARE, in FACT, part of the problem.

Understand that, when I say "you", I am directing the statement at a group of people, not at YOU, in specific. But, with the comments you've made, I'm certainly not excluding you, in specific, from the criticisms propelled. They absolutely apply.

Like Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman have repeatedly and truthfully stated, as soon as we stop making race the scapegoat to people's self-inflicted plights, the sooner those plights with evaporate. And, as so many of the black community's braver leaders have said, directed at their own; "Do better".

Thanks. Brad.

Indy,

Yeah.... I also dig in my heels when someone tries convincing me that 2+2=5. I am tired of being accused culpable for something that ended more than a hundred years before I was born, of for someone else's conscious choice to not advance themselves, despite being given the universe to do so. At some point, the truth HAS to prevail, and if it takes throwing an anchor and refusing to let the chain slip, so be it.

Thanks. Brad.

I always tell people "you live in the world you make". meaning your choices got you where you are and your choices can change where you end up. no hand out or free stuff or rehab or anything will help some one until they want to change where they are in life.

Fair question. First of all - what prompted my response was not the understandable disgust, anger and criticism levelled at the perpetrators of the incident. To be honest, once I saw that it wasn't really a "riot" or anything even close, I almost didn't even finish reading the thread. The two things that got my attention were the attempt to classify some idiots behaving stupidly as a "race riot" and the comments that went straight to the "animals! and kill them off" sentiments. So I reacted to the racial undertones of the general conversation from some and ended up reluctantly engaging with people like Brad Christy who reacted in turn to the admittedly inflammatory tone of my own reactionary response. So that's what happened. I was going to throw in my own reference to the pot-bellied, swastika and camo wearing critters who stormed the Capitol as a proper example of a animals throwing a riot, but I decided against that and I'll just keep that to myself, lol - just kidding around so put away the torches and pitchforks.

The other thing is that the general issue of race relations that pollutes and saturates almost everything these days not an exclusively American topic and this is an international forum, so expect discussions and other points of view to happen on the odd occasion.

TropicalBuzz,

I wouldn't call the PIB incident a "race riot". It's just animals doing what animals do. It's prime example for why people feel the way they do. And, before you fling it out there, I'm not generalizing. I'm speaking directly to those who were there. It wasn't the black community, as a whole, who descended upon PIB and ruined an otherwise enjoyable environment (even for themselves). It was those who have elected themselves the representatives of the black community in the public eye.

FWIW, I now know what weekend to NOT make the run to PIB, and I'm sure I'm far from alone. And, if this sort of thing devolves into more of the same on other weekends, the PIB council will undoubtedly react, and will inevitably be labeled a racist. Which will only fuel more resentment toward those ACTUALLY culpable for racial tensions in the US. Typical reaction: Blame everyone other than those actually to blame, instead of fixing the problem by demanding better of their community.

And there was no riot at the capitol. This is purely Leftist hyperbole propaganda, curated for the gullible and those hungry for bias confirmation. Compare Jan6th to literally any day during the Summer of Love, and it doesn't even register on the Richter scale. Besides, any time I hear/read someone mention Jan6th, all I can think of is $1.84 for gas.

Thanks. Brad.
