I have a Baja Scat Cat. Its pretty cool runs right at 28-30 with 25 hp 2 stroke Johnson. It rides better than I expected but is really weight sensitive. You have to lay over the bow to get it up on plane. I need to work on the setup too. The motor needs tuned badly and I think that's half the problem . Also the deck is paper thin. At some point if we keep it we will probably reinforce the deck and the floor between the sponsons.

It is really fun though. I feel like a kid in it.

Having owned a Schiada ski boat I always thought I'd get my nephew one of their 12-footers, but it and even their mass-produced 10-footer rarely come up for sale.

13, 15, or 17 Whalers are great boats for kids. The nice thing about a 17' is that its usable to adults as well and a great ski/tow boat for the kids. My son had a 15' with a 90 on it and it was a perfect introduction/learning curve for him. Whalers are tough and can't sink which is comforting depending on how long of a leash you are going to allow. I have a really nice freshwater 17' that I am selling for a reasonable price.
