450R nightmare - random shut down

I was actually betting ECM also... Partly because when they first started with replacing relays I figured wiggling wiring harnesses would have been the first tactic...
This was a 7 week debacle... 7 weekends full of stress, taking boat out worrying about stalling at any moment. Trial and error, take it out the next weekend and have the same happen... and then repeat for over a month and a half...
We scrubbed one trip to Chicago cause I didn't trust the motors. Scrubbed another overnight trip down to Kenosha.
Just glad I'll get a few more weekends before the season ends.
Thank-you again guys!

You were lucky it was only 7 weeks.....I fought mine for 6 months....even had the issue happen when Merc tech had his computer hooked up...never threw a code....actually figured it out by happen stance...they had the cowling off checking out a sensor when one of the techs moved the wire harness and it triggered the problem
What is your engine setup?
If it had been my center engine it wouldn't have been quite as impactful. My center and port engine are on the left throttle lever and the starboard engine is on the right throttle lever. So when the starboard engine shuts down, I have no joystick control... and I can't even dock the old fashioned way because the other 2 engines are on the same throttle.
Add to that sometimes it would shutdown while I was turning which would then leave the starboard engine in whatever steering position it was when it shut down. Last week it shut down in tight quarters near the fuel dock as I was pulling away in a lot of wind and with that engine turning hard to starboard, when I went to turn to port to avoid a road of charter fishing boats I had one engine trying to turn me hard into them and 2 engines trying to go the opposite way. Net result was I could petty much only go straight (given the wind).
I ended up throwing the boat in reverse and whipping the boat around like a tactical J-turn. Barely cleared the dock I had just pulled away from. Dragged myself backwards out of the tight area into the mooring field and then went back and manually raised the stalled motor so it didn't affect my steering.

I'd have lost my mind... lol
