Not sure if things have changed since I looked at F650s with Cummins/Cat power but before the only dealerships that would service them were the commercial dealerships which were few and far between compared to regular dealerships. Being in central Illinois, I kept being told the closest dealership for maintenance was in downtown St. Louis on Broadway (which isn't exactly a nice area). Nowadays you can get a F650 or Silverado 4500/5500 with standard diesel power (PowerStroke/Duramax) that can be serviced by any regular dealership. They may not pull through the mountains as good but being able to get an emergency repair without needing a commercial dealership is worth a lot.
A local guy just picked up a new Silverado 4500 as a daily driver and I have to say it's a really nice truck for the little bit of money it costs over a new 3500.

Any decent sized city will have truck repair. At this point, anything with a Cummins or Cat in it will be out of factory warranty. Close, if not out. I know theres a Peterbilt dealer in Effingham, and Cat is out of Decatur. Hardest part we had to find on the 650 was the rear brake accumulator. It set the parking brakes or something. Nightmare of a part to find and it was only like $5500 when we did. Had juice brakes not air. Wabco part and it took like 4 different orders to get the right one. I had to pick up a boat on the east coast with a 350, not real ideal. Lol.

Think I found “THE ONE” going to look at it in a week or so.

Tank,

It's been my experience that you'd better go look at it yesterday, or it will be gone before you get there.

Thanks. Brad.

Well, drive around havasu today in a very nice 2013 650. Fun truck. Bad azz. But yeah, rough ride. I don’t actually mind. Cool rig.
Kids loved it!

The sideview cameras are a real nice touch. Good truck there.

Well, did you buy it? It's very cool.

thisistank 10-24-2023 10:36 PM

I don’t think we’re gonna buy it. Couldn’t get over the rough ride. Like I said, I could deal with it but everyone else was like “holy crap!” Lol

Helmwurst 10-25-2023 08:55 AM

Well basically, it is a small semi without a trailer. Made for weight on the ass end. We used to call that "bobcat" when running w/o a trailer. I would think air bags could soften the unloaded ride.
