5 minute 4hp+ per ci marine engine dyno pull
How hot does that dyno get? |
Love it!!
I get nervous on a standard pull, 5 minutes I`d lose my lunch lol Endurance is definitely hard on engines. That has to be some serious cylinder pressure in a small ci engine. |
in the 40s during the war one of the aero engine company's i think it was Pratt and Whitney took a 3350ci radial that made 2500hp and for the fun of it cranked the boost way up to see how long it would last it made over 5000hp and ran non stop for 30 days then shut down they found nothing out of ordinary for wear now thats amazing and impressive!

I think the 3350 was a Wright? The P&W Double Wasp was a bad a$$ engine.
Nelson builds bad a$$ stuff. |
Tom builds incredible packages. Would love to have him, or Steve Morris, build me a big block. I am actually shocked that the turbo exhaust side didn't get glowing hot. I know the exhaust manifold was water cooled, I wonder if the heat sync effect from that is enough to keep the turbo exhaust housing alive.

I`m just a dummy not an engine builder by any means but over the years Ive added things I hope help an endurance engine..... piston and spring oilers, coated pistons, .904 lifters, belt drive, shaft rockers, comp cams marine easy on the valvetrain cams, also cooling the fuel on the way back to the tank, dedicated sea pump stage just for intercooler , extra oil cooler, 2 sea pump stages for engine, Flex fuel E85, 16 injectors, 8 at the intake ports.
I`ve also thought about a 55mm cam and coated exhaust valves. Unfortunately all that is insignificant if the tune isn`t right . |

Some info on the engine;
