If I were on the West coast looking for a boat to use on the West coast, I would be looking at west coast boats. The 27 Fountain wouldn't be on the list. Laveycraft, Warlock, Advantage, Nordic, Eliminator, Hallett is what I would be looking for. Unless you are boating on Lake Mead, apparently you will need a 41 Apache for that.

27 Fountain is really small, have your been on one? Considered one a long time ago, went with a Nordic 28, tons of room not as fast but at those speeds but who cares.

Being west coast I'm surprised you're not considering a Nordic 28 heat. They are a full 102" wide and have a large cabin, great handling boat.

Nordic heat all the way....love mine...not the best for lake michigan but just have to pick my days I mean after all it's a 28-29 ft boat, it's not going to be comfortable in 3-4's I don't care what brand it is. My opinion of course but anyone that tells you otherwise doesn't have a handle on what a real 3-4 ft wave is. Can it do it? Sure, can a fountain or sonic or whatever do it and maybe do it better? Maybe, but will it be comfortable...NOPE!

Get a stepped heat with a blue motor...500/525 efi and expect to run low 70's all the time and have plenty of room...496 will put you high 60's.

While I have never owned a Heat, I did own a 35 Nordic Flame for 3 or 4 seasons. I wasn't impressed at all with the build quality of the Nordic. I can assure you that the build quality of the 3 Advantage boats that I owned were superior to the Nordic. I suspect that a Laveycraft or Warlock would be even better.

No one suggests Pantera in these recent threads for boats under 30'.

Pantera is up there too.... especially if you can find the elusive twin step 28!

How so? Mine was pretty decent, some things I'd have done different but overall a quality product. My biggest issue was that it really wasn't designed for my waters (Long Island Sound) so I moved on to a PP and that solved the issue pretty quick.

Anyone consider this "one post wonder" might be a Darr thread?

A. Dumb screen name
B. Controversial subject, comparing a Fountain to a West Coast boat.

The only thing missing is him jumping back in to spout off his expertise.
