A buddy of mine that owned a large yacht repair biz in so fl was staying at my island hotel. He rode my boat back to Cartagena it’s normally 1:45 min trip each way. Anyway it was windy AF and just before you get to Cartagena there is an area that has some serious waves. I was in our old boat a couple months ago (which is currently in the marina having a bunch of hull repairs made. The captain pounded the boat through that area so when we got to Cartagena and as soon as the passengers all left I call him and the mate aside and ripped his azz for treating our equipment like that. A few days later I rode the boat back to the island and he slowed way down from 30mph normal cruise speed to low 20s and it was a nice smooth ride. When we reached the island I took him aside and told him great job that is how we want you to run the boats and treat our equipment. Well the trip my my buddy was a ride from hell. To start with they let 14 passenger sit in the front on the starboard side and had four passengers in the port rear so with the boat sitting at the dock it was listing severely to starboard. Then he ran the snot out of it and was belly flopping it on the waves my buddy could feel the hull twisting and the stringers hating life. I was livid. We have a young guy that worked for the hotel for six years that is a sharp guy very loyal and honest which are rare qualities in Colombia. My partner and I made him part owner of the boat biz because we like and trust him but he has no marine exp or much mechanical aptitude or know how. But thats ok as I have it in spades Anyway I told him what happened he talked for captain and the captain tried to justify that ride. Nope not ok. So the guy took the captains side and said one of the tranq it easy boats was just in the marina for 25k dollars in hull repairs as in he thinks that ok. I’m like wtf. I’ve seen the captain for tranq it easy pass our boat in the rough area beating the living crap out of the boat and passenger F that. I just had a talk with the captain and told him he needs to slow down and if it’s extremely rough to change course so he runs the big waves on a 45 degree angle to not pound the boat thru them. I think I will install GoPro cameras to keep him honest. We want as few blown lower units and no hull damage or lawsuits as that would suck all the profit out of the business.
Hmmmph, a captain that wouldn’t address balancing the light load of passengers for their benefit, and then runs the boat in a manner hard on your customers and equipment? I’d be thinking pretty hard about adding “former” to his job title.

I think that is the solución as well. He was trying to justify his running the boat like that. Thinking I don’t know what’s up. Nope too much invested in this business to let a hot shot beat up our equipment and cost us money. He has no skin in the game. That’s the problem

thanks bro. It was a hell of a lot more work to build them than I thought it would be, due to the fact the car is so short. The tubing had to run down and aft due to the tire being in the way of running them straight out like a funny car. This car scratches 5 things off my bucket list. 1 My first Blower car, 2 chopping a car, 3 a car that will wheelie on the street it’s 6’6” from the rear of the engine block to the rear axle tube and will prolly weigh 2400 lbs I’m running wheelie bars, 4 zoomies. 5 building a complete chassis from scratch. Who know it might even drive straight lol.

thanks daddio, all 3 are sold, just a matter for the attorneys. i dont use any of those apps, too much going on with properties and stuff to have that kind of stuff on my phones or computers. too much hacking etc, just call or text me, the new place will have a VPN so I can do things with Belize and the islands while being secure.

Are you on Tierra Bomba? Is it friendly (safe) for USA persons to visit there? Worth it? How's the fishing and diving?

it’s safe but it’s kind of a dump. I don’t care much for Cartagena and the beaches islands in the area. There are hucksters selling crap and older fat girls trying to give awful massages on the beach. Not that many good restaurants either as there is a constant influx of tourists that keep crappy restaurants in business and they often over charge gringos drastically. Not very good water clarity in that area and not much good fishing as in bill fishing. Cartagena is a fairly decent place for hookers tho that its redeeming quality lol but Medellin is much better by 10 fold lol. Btw I live in Medellin. lol. My island isla Múcura is about 1:45 mins in a slow 30mph passenger boat. It like the Bahamas . Beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear blue waters. It’s a unique area. Cartagena beaches are brown sand and kind of ugly imo. Most of Cartagena is a dump. Boca grande is the big tourist area with some nice hotels but doesn’t have much else going for it. The peso is weak against the dollar so things are very inexpensive here now due to the exchange rate. if you want to party Medellin is the place and blow is 3-4 dollars a gram lol.lots of good clubs here and some great restaurants also. i live in laureles which was just voted the coolest neighborhood in the world! my partner and i are going to build a 6 story 32 apt airbnb rental starting summer next year.
