I was shocked to see a 2020ish model in the classifieds. Did they really just build one after 15 years of none?

So is Caldwell Marine no longer building Donzi’s for the factory? Did they move production of all new CC’s back to the Fountain Factory or are they no longer going to offer anything but these new designs?

IGetWet,

Absolutely. Not even shopping around. Neal owns the molds. Why not?

Thanks. Brad.

Hogie,

PQ turned the lights out in 2006(?), and the bank owned everything for a while, while the plant sat dormant. Neal Wallace tried to buy the company early on, but the bank wanted way too much, so he passed. My understanding is that sometime in 2018-19, the bank approached him about it, giving him considerable leverage and he was able to acquire the company much more reasonably. They built a brand new 380 and shopped it around the trade shows. If I were to guess, the one that was listed on OSO Classified was that boat. It certainly looks like it. He told me, at least at the time of our conversation, that they were prepared to build a boat from any mold they had if a customer wanted it. I don't really know where that stands today. I don't think they've built many, if any, more boats since that 380, but I would assume they are still prepared to build to order.

Thanks. Brad.

LOL. I guess there was a time I thought my first powerboat was the greatest thing on earth too.

Carry on

IGetWet,

This ain't my first powerboat, and I'm far from new to powerboats. I've been on/in them literally my entire life; 53 years and counting. I've been all over most brands out there. I've seen the good and the bad. I'm also a MFR and a builder of high-end, high performance model boats. I know good work when I see it, machining and otherwise. I can't count how many offers I've turned down to buy our 280.

Keep walkin'....

Thanks. Brad.
