Well, I bought a couple brand new Bajas back in the early 90s then I wanted to move up so for about 15 years I moved over to Powerquest bought 7, then I switched over to fountain first a 32 then 35, then I bought 31 sonic SS, sold the sonic month ago And I was looking for another boat, not stuck on any certain brand I saw couple of Bajas pop up and one of them being a 33 outlaw, so I looked at it. The boat is perfect so I bought it but in the back of my mind I kept thinking I was taking a step back after having the other higher quality boats,a couple of days ago I took the boat out for a ride and now I don't have those thoughts anymore, ran great plenty of power 77 mph, no rattles,so I'm content for now and not really sure I actually did take a step backwards . Lol

I'm curious about the "heavy duty upper gears" and why the "hydromotive" sticker on the drives and if they are related.
Big blocks in a 32' boat with alphas sounds like a bad combo but it looks like the boat was built the year before bravos came out.

The 1st 454 Magnum engine is the base 330 hp engine, as I recall, they came out in 85 and were produced til the bravo was introduced in mid 87, they were then renamed the 7.4
The drive, they just resurrected the upper gear ratio they used on the old
233. 351 ford engine package they made up til 78 when the 260 came out.
The weak link on these was the vertical shaft, they would twist off right below the upper splines, the 1, MR, alpha drive ratio change is done in the upper, so
a lower numerical ratio imparts less torque to the lower, so the vertical shaft is less stressed than it is with the more popular 1.5 ratio.
So, there’s nothing magical here
