Many varieties of wood make good material for boat construction until you encapsulate it incorrectly.

I say we all just go boat and have some fun!

Despise is a strong word without ever owning one.
I`m not brand loyal to anything but the 2 Rams I`ve had ran like a clock even with my wifes driving :D

I know the feeling.

Every once in a while I get bit by a Dodge/Ram stupid design thing...but the big 3 all do it...and it's not enough to push me past the Cummins.

Honestly I was a brand loyal ford owner for most of my driving life but I was convinced to move into a dodge from a F150 in 2016. Im now on my 3rd 1500, 2nd scatpack challenger and 2nd durango RT Not one has had any major issues. And I just jinx'd myself typing this LOLOLOL

ICDEDPPL 04-11-2024 09:14 AM

I screwed up when I didn`t get the adaptive cruise control package as we take a lot of long trips.. that was dumb .
I do love the side view that pops up showing the side and trailer on GM trucks. that is cool and helpful, along with the rear view mirror being a rear camera.
Oh well .

BBYSTWY 04-11-2024 06:05 PM

That freaked me out the first time it happened in my half ton chevy....hooked the boat up, flipped the turn signal on, and the giant screen switched to show the whole side of the boat....didn't even know it was a thing hahahaha. It is a pretty nice feature for sure. The rear view mirror camera you're talking about is awesome! Messes with me during the day so I only use it at night but at night there's no headlight glare and at a stop light you can see the guy behind you yelling at his wife clear as day in the "mirror" hahaha

Helmwurst 04-12-2024 09:09 AM

^^^^^ Gottalove that. I sure do.

Ozzir 04-16-2024 12:06 AM

I love the old Baja’s. They were such a sexy boat back in the day. Buddy of mine had a few of them and loved them.

boatnt 06-11-2024 12:51 AM

Well, I bought a couple brand new Bajas back in the early 90s then I wanted to move up so for about 15 years I moved over to Powerquest bought 7, then I switched over to fountain first a 32 then 35, then I bought 31 sonic SS, sold the sonic month ago And I was looking for another boat, not stuck on any certain brand I saw couple of Bajas pop up and one of them being a 33 outlaw, so I looked at it. The boat is perfect so I bought it but in the back of my mind I kept thinking I was taking a step back after having the other higher quality boats,a couple of days ago I took the boat out for a ride and now I don't have those thoughts anymore, ran great plenty of power 77 mph, no rattles,so I'm content for now and not really sure I actually did take a step backwards . Lol

BBYSTWY 06-11-2024 06:43 AM

Pretty impressive! 77 with stock black motors....really makes one reconsider this high HP stuff we build...turn the key and go boating sounds really really nice right now!

Beautiful and clean 33! Even after all the boats I've owned the 33 is still one of my favs. Congratz!

I'm curious about the "heavy duty upper gears" and why the "hydromotive" sticker on the drives and if they are related.

Big blocks in a 32' boat with alphas sounds like a bad combo but it looks like the boat was built the year before bravos came out.

JaayTeee 06-16-2024 07:09 AM

The 1st 454 Magnum engine is the base 330 hp engine, as I recall, they came out in 85 and were produced til the bravo was introduced in mid 87, they were then renamed the 7.4

The drive, they just resurrected the upper gear ratio they used on the old
233. 351 ford engine package they made up til 78 when the 260 came out.

The weak link on these was the vertical shaft, they would twist off right below the upper splines, the 1, MR, alpha drive ratio change is done in the upper, so
a lower numerical ratio imparts less torque to the lower, so the vertical shaft is less stressed than it is with the more popular 1.5 ratio.

So, there’s nothing magical here;)

Sounds like people I wouldn't want to be tied up to anyway. Hopefully just joking.

I see more well taken care of older Bajas than anything around here. Owners took pride in them and there are plenty still around in excellent shape. I've also seen some million dollar rigs with cracks in the glass, busted dash, imperfections in paint when brand new, rusty hardware, mismatched fasteners, and other stuff after only a couple years of lake use. Boats are all custom built so fit and finish can be something you have to deal with now and again. I wish my boat was perfect...as hard as I try it is not.

I like seeing variety on the water and certainly don't want every boat out there to be the same as mine. I don't get some people's way of looking down on something else.

DRAG 06-17-2024 12:05 PM

Also isn't a new Outlaw 36 with 520s a $389,000 boat? It was a couple years ago maybe that has changed. That is pretty hard to beat for what you are getting. Boat prices have skyrocketed out of the reach of many, and that seems like a pretty good value for a boat that probably will run 75 and has usable day boat features and a decent cabin.

F-2 Speedy 06-17-2024 01:35 PM

I had a 2000 33 OL with 1300 hp and it never ran that fast............gps

PLYSGLF 06-17-2024 04:14 PM

Then of course you get that one guy that puts a tower and turf on an Outlaw. Yes I hate this Baja.

996hp? Must be some special Baja fishing version of HO's with extra power to get to those fishing grounds first.

DRAG 06-19-2024 04:37 PM

The grass for the dogs to wizz on is a nice touch.

The sonic was a great boat but the cockpit was small very small,
I wasn't quite sure how I was gonna like the Baja after the fountains and the sonic and other boats I've owned, but I have to be honest with you that 33 outlaw rides pretty well,

It's in California, things are different there I hear! Need the turf on the swim platform for the marina junky to sleep on.
