Wow! I would have to say that Robert Maynes is the MASTER of Omitting pertinent Information.
First, Robert Maynes never mentioned that the first three Amberjacks I looked at for him would have been total disasters for a boat owner who has no mechanical prowess and I told him to keep looking. (By the way I never charged them a penny for those brief inspections.). It's not always all about money.
Second: Bob's lovely wife Kathy was invited to an Italian feast when she was here without Bob, cooked by my mother. Now the Maynes are more than just customers. Robert Maynes also neglected to mention that he and Kathy were invited and attended my wedding to Susan Rogers on November 9, 2019.
I had mentioned to a broker that I had some friends interested in a Sea Ray Amberjack that had to be pristine and within their price range. Freddy Pettersson from Boats International in Pompano Beach came up with a gem: No bottom paint, always kept on the owners lift, (by the way an Airline Pilot), always fresh water flushed, never in the water overnight, always covered, full service records and immaculate.
The Maynes came down from the state of Maine for the Trial Run and the boat performed perfectly, made proper RPM and speed, etc. The statement that we only tested the boat in the No Wake Zone is totally inaccurate. In my report it's clearly stated and Boat International's hired captain, Marco, would later attest to this. We helped Mr. Maynes arrange for shipping and this was I learned he planned to bottom paint this nearly perfect boat and keep in the water. I told him that while the sterndrive is one of the most efficient ways to get power to the water, IT WAS NEVER DESIGNED TO BE KEPT FULL-TIME IN A SALT WATER ENVIRONMENT. I implored him to find another way, but he said it was the only way he could afford the boat. I told him if had told me sooner I would have looked for a V-drive Amberjack which was available back then as an option instead of stern drives. I figured he had it in his favor the cold water and a short season.
I don't remember the exact date, but I get a call from Mr. Maynes that his mechanic said that this boat had previouly sunk and I missed it in my report!! I said to please send me what is causing this and he had his mechanic send me photos of rusted exhaust manifolds and elbows. The only trouble was the photos were of BLUE cast-iron rusted exhaust parts, (Crusader), when everyone but Mr. Maynes knows MerCruiser exhaust is painted black! When I called Bob and told him this he chose to believe the crooks that were screwing him. He said he was suing me for $53,000 to repair his boat.
After becoming friends these were the LAST people I expected to post something fraudulent to attempt to hurt someone who was truly looking out for them.
