Movie pet peeve

Maybe it's just me and maybe it's been talked about before but I have the biggest pet peeve when it comes to outboards in movies. Why do they insist on making them sound like a 502 mag with through hulls!!?? If they want the cinematic value of a boat sounding mean and loud well then here's an idea....use a boat that IS mean and loud! Watched a movie the other day that featured a large inflatable with a 300 hanging off the back....sounded like a stock black motor with through hulls and I almost threw my remote through the tv hahahaha. Not sure why but this absolutely drives me insane! Anyone else??

That is all....rant over hahaha

We just watched the new Roadhouse movie and they did it to a Yamaha jet boat🙄

I think they used the sound on the inflatable outboard too.

If you work on your own stuff at all then you go crazy watching movies with cars as there is SOOO much wrong it drive me nuts! Case in point....watching some movie the other day where there's a chase scene and the guy says he needs to disable the traction control or ABS or something along those lines and then proceeds to rip out the entire fuse box from under the dash and then rips a 180 and starts shooting at the bad guys in reverse :lolhit:
I had to turn it off right then and there

The same thing happens with dirt bikes, they always have the 2 stroke sound and they are 4 strokes!

That's been going on a long time. I recall a few episodes of Miami Vice where an outboard boat sounded like it had a v8 i/o.

Yellowstone made me feel this way.. They have a ton of RAM trucks with Cummins engines in them, yet they make them sound like a hemi when they step on the gas..

This is what I thought of too! Though the crash scene at the end looked surprisingly realistic

One of the most blatant examples of this was the movie 'San Andreas' with The Rock, and when he's driving the RIB with an outboard it has a big-block V8 soundtrack...

Anyone that's into High Performance boating MUST watch this one. You have to watch the whole thing to know what I'm talking about, so I won't spoil it.

Agreed! They do this with cars too. You can clearly see a v6 challenger in a movie yet it has a v8 soundtrack.
