One of my buddies has the original Lake of the Ozarks Water Patrol boat. At the time it was simply a County Sheriff's boat. I think the brand is Yellow Jacket with an old Mercury motor. Both are from the mid 50's. I'll take some pics next time I'm at his dock. It's kept on the 3.5MM of the Glaize Arm - you may see it out from time to time. Dog Days and Backwater's is about as far as he'll drive it.

About the only magazine I’ve been subscribed to for the last 30 years has been Wooden Boat. I was out in Seattle back in 96 and visited the Woodenboat shop on lake Union .

They had a 200 foot square rigger in the water they were working on with volunteers. They would let you crawl all over the thing and being they were replanking some areas above the waterline it was cool to see how heavily built these ships were .

They were pretty much framed with railroad tie sized vertical frames almost frame to frame in the bow area than planked with 3-4 inch planks.

Later I was up in the loft at the shop reading through all the old early Wooden Boat magazines that I didn’t have until one of the girls working there told me I could buy them for 50 cents each

I gathered up every issue I didn’t have and boxed them up and sent them back to Florida. I love reading back through the old issues of the amazing history and restorations.

There is a great article about Riva in one of the issues I’ll have to dig out.

I was thinking the same thing - Alpha Z is a fantastic design that is aging beautifully...
