Classic power question

Can someone tell me why BBC where the such the standard firepower in the golden era.

ford where huge and you never hear of Chrysler powered boats.

I’d guess Hi Perf, aftermarket support to be part of it.

Even the Fords and Chryslers that were marinized were stock.
