How to tell labbed prop or not

Here is a pick of my 28 pitch bravo. I need to order a prop and wanted to try a 26 or 27 bravo but I need to know if this is a standard prop or if it had been worked on. Need to gain about 500 rpm.

A lot of places will stamp the hub under your castle washer if its been labbed. I can't tell in the pics. Bravo's only come in even pitch unless you order a factory Merc labbed one.
Dropping 2" in pitch will gain you about 400rpms.

Besides BBblades who else is good i can use? i have had no luck getting a call or email response, i'm sure they are very busy.

I am trying to learn as fast as possible so what i come up with is this,
Current prop appears to be a stock bravo 1 28 pitch. It is turning 4750 to 4800 rpm. I think a 27 pitch pro finish would be close to my 52-5400 rpm goal? I found a new one on ebay for 1000 bux.

HPManiac,

Buy it. Then sell me your 28P. I've been looking for a good used one for a year now.:ernaehrung004:

Thanks. Brad.

A update on that bad ass checkmate 251 i posted info on, i think i'm going to just buy it after talking to people that know about the boat. there has been almost 100k spent on the boat since 2018. i talked to a guy that has seen the boat do 102 mph with a different prop set up and light as can be. for 30k i'd be a fool not to buy it. The entire build has less than 20 hrs on it. I also saw the 10k receipt for the sound system lol.
Quick math.
24k to build a 598 BBC from scratch with parts used on this engine.
Teague drive upper and lower 18k
3800 k trim tabs 5k
cmi big tube headers 6 inch collector 9k.
sound system 10k.
Just that stuff is over 60k.

I have a 28P now. I've been looking for a second one so I can have the one I've got touched up and labbed. I think I can break the 80 mark with a labbed and thinned 28P, pitched to 29". Just haven't been able to score a stock one.

FWIW, I've got a labbed 28P that might just be your ticket.. I'd be willing to let you try it if you want. It's collecting dust at the moment.

Thanks. Brad.

Brad, i ordered a prop from Brett, just talked to him. when i get it if it works out we can figure out something with my current 28 pitch prop.
I think yes i might buy the checkmate, and if i dont like the boat or its hard to drive i can sell it for more than i pd probably. The boat is incredible for a 1992 and the amount of money invested is crazy.

HPManiac,

All good. We can talk at a later date, when you've got your sitch sorted out.

I'm amazed you actually got Brett on the phone. I guess when you whip your checkbook out, he finds the time to actually talk. When I have questions (about a prop I am considering buying), I always get the "He's 200 phone calls behind in calling people back" routine.

Carry on.

Thanks. Brad.
