Cincinnati Race 12-05-2002 05:45 PM

APBA Offshore Cincinnati Race, Father's Day, 2003

Cincinnati, Ohio
June 14-15, 2003

This race would be a Sanctioned APBA local race, supported by the Great Lakes Silver Cup Series.

Who would be interested? We need racers, sponsors, patrol and turn boats, staff and volounteers. We have coast gaurd and City approval as well as two prim locations, one on each side of the river. We have a few quality sponsors and local tv and radio coverage, and I think we could get a large crowd.

So who is in and does anybody have any thoughts?

Panteraman,

How about you break your boat out of retirement and take a victory in your hometown? That would be a great story for the Newspapers here.

Sounds good, not sure why it was not done before now. Let me know how I can help.-scott

JUSTONCE 12-06-2002 07:42 AM

I'd rather it be cleveland but cinci isn't to far I'd be glad to help out as a turn boat or patrol boat.

Face It 12-06-2002 08:02 AM

I talked to Ted Zoli about Clevland. The city doesn't want anythink to do with the race so the cancelled out Cleveland.

Cincinnati Race 12-06-2002 08:21 AM

Steve,

Would you race, volounteer, patrol or safty boat?

Scott,

I agree, there is great support here! Heck, Meijer just gave the Speedway 2.6 mil + for the next 5 years.

BRUCE SEROFF 12-06-2002 08:42 AM

Barring any Schedule conflicts, the Jersey Boyz would love to join your party.

IF the show is run correctly you will have no problem drawing a crowd. But like I said, it needs to be done right!! Riverfest draws 1/2 million each year, people around here are very "outdoorsy" during the summer. The river is absolutely PACKED during the summer weekends. I believe there is great potential for the crowd to be significant. However, I would push the date back further into the year. Last June the river was a mine field of debris with all of the spring rain. Need to consider this, may detract racers or even worse, race may have to be canceled due to dangerous conditions.

I would either be racing or would be helping out in anyway I could. I would love too see a race in Cincy. Great venue, this town has race fever since the Speedway was built. E-mail me if you need anything, [email protected]. Thanks, goodluck, Allan

Oh Hell - I know we can only be a turn boat or patrol.....

BUT, - if someone wants to give me a chance......

Reindl Powerboats 12-09-2002 08:12 PM

Robert,

Cincinnati, is on the Ohio, and the race will take place there. It is a Silver Cup Series, not a Pro Series event.

Corey,

Is there an email or number where I can get a hold of you?

CigBoat 12-10-2002 06:02 AM

Are there any more details! What part of the river? Downtown would be real cool would they let you do it there? Let us know what we can do!!

Dano 12-10-2002 06:53 AM

We would throw in some support.

Reindl Powerboats 12-10-2002 07:54 AM

Dano,

How are you? I need your help. We just sold a couple boats, so we will be franntically trying to build some more before next season starts.

I will call you soon.

The course will be great with tight turns - it will be a true test for the racers. We raced on the similar St. Claire River and had a blast last year.

Chris

Dano 12-10-2002 08:02 AM

Chris,
No problem anytime...I still need a ride in one of those!

ITLLFLI 12-10-2002 08:04 AM

This sounds like it would be great! The Ohio river would great! No different than running the St. Clair River. I would be very willing to help and hopefully race! I would imagine most of the Somerset Poker run team would be willing also!

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO BRING IT TO REALITY??

AugiePensa 12-10-2002 08:33 AM

Chris,Thanks for the well wishes for Samantha and your replies! I will be seeing Smitty this Morning and will advise and will keep you informed about The Jersey Boyz meeting as well, again thanks and hope we can all put these races togeather. Augie

BRUCE SEROFF 12-10-2002 08:36 AM

Auggie....isnt that your phone I hear ringing?

Cincinnati Race 12-10-2002 10:09 AM

Itllfli,

The race looks like a reality right downtown. Both the KY side and Sawyer Point are already reserved. Community Press, Clear Channel (about half the local radio and news stations), and Channel 12 news are all behind it.

Add that to support from dealers like Dan's Sonic Dealership and Manufacturers like Reindl Powerboats, and we should have one lively event. Don't forget our Poker Run has drawn 80+ boats, and the owners of Lip Ship and AMT are also from Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Race 12-10-2002 12:28 PM

Augie and Bruce,

Hope to see you guy at the Cincinnati Race. We will be providing travel money for teams that have to travel a long way to get here!

BRUCE SEROFF 12-10-2002 02:10 PM

Sounds good to me....Do we qualify for traveling a long way?

regards

Cincinnati Race 12-10-2002 03:03 PM

Yes you guys certainly qualify for driving a long way! We will also work on getting you discounted hotel rooms. Prize money for the classes will also come out of a $12,500 + purse.

AugiePensa 12-10-2002 04:48 PM

Chris, the wheels are rolling,Smitty said you spoke to him,I brought down the E-Mails you sent and we'll read the at The Jersey Boyz First Meeting 12/21/02,we're almost there,Thanks,Augie...............

Allan4 12-10-2002 09:24 PM

Hey Ren-del, how's it going?? What is the story with the races, is it already scheduled or is it in the works?? I'll call you this week, later humpo......;)
