good question i know a few fuel hydros are now over 280 why not line one up at the 1/2 mile mark and pull the trigger ? if it goes straight it has got to set a few records and have the crowd on its feet... nitro is truly amazing to see and hear smell and feel

There is a newer facebook and IG account that goes by freedom one race team and it looks like they built a new 38 skater with shaft drives and it has billet motors with huge psi blowers.
It looks super cool and like it might be running in the shootout, i like how they kept it low profile and have some patriotic and charity based statements. I have no idea what the boat is making for power but assume it must be up there. The 285mph number can't be real but looks like the boat has the hardware to play in the 185 plus range. |
The motors are bad ass all aluminum Hemi's three speed transmission.

170 from a standing stop, never ran (at the shootout) and even a slow roll to get up. Dq'ed for not slowing in time.
If they get this figured out to get a roll in start and slow down. It should compete for top gun for sure. |
According to Bob Teague the engines ( all aluminum ) have no cooling ( like a lot of drag engines ) and have to be towed out to the start line, fire the engines and blast off to keep from over heating.

Was confirmed by the team too. They have to figure out a way to get into the box with some speed to contend though and maybe parachutes for stopping . Had a lot of potential for sure and sounded nasty. |
|
And his new post showed why he DQ'ed. Kept it pinned and crossed 200mph but past the official sticks
|
They are pro mod 1/8 mile drag race engines. Noonan billet hemis

Was hoping to see it run. Cool effort but a lot of rumors and hype online…285mph, going after Qatar record, 10,000hp…and I’m not sure that all comes from the team but rather some internet fans. The in cockpit video shows it’s certainly fast clearing 200, but they ran it a long way. Hope they keep the effort moving it’s really cool. I’d have run wet blocks without question.…just my opinion.
Lots more needed to catch Onken. Dirty Duck accelerates hard too. Love to see multiple 200mph efforts. |
Good that 388 Skaters have become so affordable that you can use them for drag racing.

video link?

The shootout is quickly going becoming a "spend to win" deal. Very cool to watch and participate in as long as we don't start to lose guys in the 3/4 distance. Speeds are already above what was anticipated when they shortened the course. We will see outboard cats in the 140s next year.

Going from the starting box had NOTHING to do w cooling. The engines will run at idle for a long long time and under power for 30 secondsish. Plenty of time for the 40 mph roll. Its not what the owner wanted to do at this moment in time. Yes their is plenty to sort out, but trust me it has the potential to hit the current record mark.

Add in American Ethanol, Dirty Duck, and hopefully the Crocket Rocket next years Shootout will be epic! Reserve your rooms now! I am surprised that there is room in the cockpit for the size balls these two must have! |
Standing start, and with the previous days transmission woes, they posted they started and ran the course in 2nd gear only. Thanks to Flat Rate for the post, was able to catch them on instagram with only 100 followers (over 1k in two days). Love the secret-squirrel attempt and their constant updates over the weekend. Very fun to follow along, they have an admiral goal and I can’t wait to see how they progress.
I also agree with DRAG; though they posted their intent to take the record with the boat, I think the bench-racers inserted a lot of the hype/rumors. |

Joe I would love to no details on all of the setups. A nice 33 power play ran 90+. Sounded great |

Lots of talk about turning up the 450s and 500s. Big gains available. I can probably help with ECUs if anyone gets interested.
