Nice trip. You should be fine down there.

So I’ll net about 8.5’. South eye wall is forecast to be 10-15 so just have to see where it lands and how far inshore it holds up. But it’s a straight shot from Big Pass to this inlet.
That straight shots not good Salty Sams marina a mile across the bay from Fort Myers beach had a water mark at 13’ for Ian. Your evacuating?

Some friends have left Lakewood Ranch to stay with family in Naples so we have their condo. Leaving sometime tomorrow, not far and can take back roads so no i75 bs. For what’s it worth I sealed all my doors shut up to window level with 3M 4200 lol. I’ll have to use carpet knives to get back in.

Yea my buddy just bought a ground floor condo here in fort Myers that was totally redone after getting 6 inches from rain during Ian. He got it cheap because it was unsellable because of getting flood insurance . He bought it cash but and thought it was a once in a blue moon flooding.

The ground here is absolutely saturated so be spray foamed his patio doors up to window level And trash bags and sandbags.

Just walked behind our condo that has a pond and the water is 4 inches from flooding the ac units and the ground is like a sponge it’s so saturated.

Early am tomorrow I willrun out to Arcadia and see if I can secure my semi trailer and than stop by the boat in Moore Haven and grab the window shaker and toaster oven and generator and gas grille.

My brother is anchored up in the river with his trawler along with many other boats that ran from fort myers and cape coral to get above the set of locks away from the surge.

a/c has the condo at 68 as I’ve slowly y pulled it down the last couple days.

I have been thru a couple of hurricanes when I lived in Fla but none as strong as this one. personally if you are in the path of it there is nothing you own worth dying for. Homestead was pretty far inland when Andrew came thru and I remember going thru there a week or so after and whole subdivisions were nothing but foundations. if this thing stays at a cat 5 all it takes is one little opening and it will tear out the backside of a house. I hope it dies down but if not dont stay to try and ride it out, it rarely works out.

As long as Jim Cantore isn't standing on that dock your boat will be fine!

That will be a mess to clean up but it would likely slow any looters down too! I probably would have used silicone, easier to remove.

Good luck and hopefully your trick works well!

Whole house has teak floors so I don’t care much about the doors. The biggest screw up we did was using impact glass in the main floor but not upstairs. I have two windows in particular upstairs I think are vulnerable.
