Manasota Key/Englewood Beach was a mess after Helene and now far worse due to Milton confirmed by news reports and the video you posted.

You have to wonder with some of the damage if they will even rebuild on some of these barrier islands.

Maybe they shouldn’t but they will. Just like theres always someone with a faster boat, there’s probably always a hurricane that can beat the building code.

Yea some of those barrier islands are nothing but a sandbar now that you see them from the air and not much for vegetation like mangroves to hold them together.

There is 50-70 feet of beach missing up in Bonita after all these storms and if you get a strong cold front out of the North over winter you can lose another 20 in a day .

Have to build on concrete pylons driven 40 feet down but than what , you own a stilt home out in the bay.

The Dome homes out beyond Goodland in the Gulf now long gone. We used to go crawl around on them back in the early 2000s. Granted they were built on a sandbar surrounded by land with mangroves.
