500 efi fuel system upgrade
I have warmed up 500 efi's, making about 625 hp. I am looking to ditch the mechanical/ cool fuel set up. Whats the best way to go these days, Aeromotive, Weldon, or??
Hey Curt, I ran Aeromotive on my 540's with he 500 intakes and bypass regulator's.......and also running the same on my Whipple's........Ive never had any issues with fuel delivery.
I too have aeromotive.
I think you’re pretty safe with either.
We’re running Weldon’s (which I know are rebuildable) haven’t had any issues with them. Aeromotive A1000 regulators. Deadheads the rails (rail). |
That’s a nice jump in power. How did you accomplish?
I have used both. I personally feel that the Weldon is a better pump for the same money as the Aeromotive.
I have two lightly used aeromotive EFI regulators if you need them
Merc states HP at the prop so original HP is probably around 550 HP Im just guessing that 625Hp is on a dyno. Not down playing 625HP at all
aeromotive. we also typically drill/tap the end of the rail so it doesnt dead head. if you dead head it at the regulator then send it to the rail and then dead head it again at #7 not only will you for sure need a damper but 7 is considerably drier.
so fuel in, through the rail, out of the rail, into regulator. |
