Maybe this one?
The speed on the water boat is very similar and it is already at Upstate powerboats getting redone. My cousin bought the boat I posted and it is going to Upstate Powerboat in a few weeks. Trying to find info on it. Where its been, what its old race name(s) used to be etc, old pics etc. Originally Posted by NWfreerider

That picture is from 2003 or 2004 and that is when Dave Thomas in Huntington Beach owned it. I believe it's the same 28 in the SOTW article. He owned SpeedWear back then and did shirts/uniforms for a lot of the OS teams. He and his wife at the time (in the boat with him in the pic) were up here in Nor Cal for the Benicia POPBRA races in 2003 and rode with me in my 28/300 rig to watch the races that weekend. I don't know the history on the boat though.Originally Posted by 21 Hustler
Hello - I am trying to find info on this boat. Old pics, old race names, old locations etc. It is a 1994, came from factory as dual canopy

Skater30. The SOTW boat is at Upstate Powerboat right now getting redone. The boat in the pic I posted is a 1994 28 which currently looks like this (see attached). Yes, the UGLIEST 28 in all the land, bayliner windshield and U-bench seating. Phil at Upstate will be getting this boat in a few weeks for a full pleasure restoration as Skater intended them to look like. We are trying to incorporate some of its history in the restoration which is why I am trying to figure out its history. The 28 was owned by David and Leon Ortemond who died in a 36 skater back in 2012, and I dont know Leon, but the guy in the pics kinda looks like him based on some pics ive found, which would put that picture around 2011? 2010? Did Dave Thomas own the boat I posted, or the one from SOTW?Originally Posted by Skater30

I could be mistaken, that was 20+ years ago and that pic is definitely not very clear. I do clearly remember that Dave owned a Skater 28 in those early 2000s years and he and his wife could pass for the couple in that picture you posted. I never saw his 28, as he never brought it up North and I only took my 28 down South a few times so we never ran our 28s together. Like I said, he and his wife rode with me one weekend and that's when he told me he also had a 28 Skater - I assumed it was the one you posted a pic of when it looked like him and his wife at the time in it. The 28 in the picture was the old Citre Shine race boat raced by Paul Whiter and Joe Black and then became. No Limits when I raced the boat with Kip Cyprus and he sold it to Dennis McCarthy of Huntington Beach not Dave Thomas and then the boat went back east that's the last I know of the boat.

Thanks for the history lesson! I remember the boat when it was Citre Shine, wasn't that around the same time the Xplosive 28 Skater was racing (mid-nineties)? So was Dave Thomas out of Huntington or Long Beach? Originally Posted by Team Archer
