Default 502/TRS misalignment

!986 Donzi Hornet III, 502, Borg Warner transmission, TRS drive. I had a knock when the wheel was hard over, so I'm replacing the U-joints. I replaced the Gimbal bearing, and noticed the bearing housing, which is the Borg Warner tailstock was WAY low. because its only a few inches from the rear mounts, I think I'd have to drop the front mounts by inches to get it to line up...I have the springs and fibre washers in on the rear mounts , should there be spacers? Can I shim the rear mounts up so I'd have to drop the fronts less? There's foam or rubber ring around the tailstock that does not make contact with the transom mount...you can just see the gap at the 2 o'clock positiion in the pic....

Sigh...I figured it out...I havent had the rear mounts apart, it looks like the stack of spring, fibre washer etc is in the wrong order, i'll get at that today, I suspect it will cure my alignment issue..
