Default Attention Western NY boaters

Just saw a news report about an accident on the Niagara River last night. There is a pic of an upside down boat. Looks like a twin step go fast. Two people missing.

I wasn't sure if it was outboards or IO, thanks. Too close to home. I don't recognize the names but then I am horrible with names.

Just talked to my mechanic in Tonawanda NY. He is near the upper river. Said the boat brand was a Scout with three Yamaha outboards. He was following his son who barely missed the water Intake. I know the area...not that far from the falls. Tragic accident.

What kind of markers / lights does that intake have on it?

Assuming speed was a factor, based on the degree of damage....

Is that concrete looking thing the water intake? I thought they had lights on top of them but that thing doesn't seem too well marked for night. I'm always worried running at any speed in the dark, it's just so easy to miss something

I was told it is a water intake...I cannot verify. Supposed to have a light on it and a reflective sign.
