Default hull transducers

On my new to me 1988 261 liberator the dash dept gauge is not working, it does get pwr and the screen night lights work
the person before put in a older garmin and it has a transducer which i think i found glassed or epoxied in near the fwd bilge
see photo, its the yellow hump thing
the factory one is still wired and in the hull aft
how do i test it? was thinking use it to see if the garmin works using it, but its a 1988 and the garmin is a 08 vintage
any ideas?

I went round and round trying to replace my depth finder a few years back. Found out that there have been multiple frequency sensors produced over the years and they are not compatible with each other. Connectors are different too. Can't just splice a connector on either.

Can't test a depth finder on the trailer. Boat needs to be in the water to test them. Turning them ON out of the water can damage the gauge.

Depth gauge diameter may be an issue when it comes to mounting it.

Here's my orig thread. Hopefully it answers some questions you may have or will have.

Need a new depth finder.

The "yellow hump thing" is bilge pump and float switch

yes my fault
The yellowish hump next to bilge pump forward.
this fwd pump and float works
but the yellowish hump appears to be not native to the build.
second part .. if I buy a new Garmin.. Will the transducer work, or will I have to mount it on transom, its about the size of a ballpark hot dog, minus the oinions

transducers will wait until i can get her in the water next week
good news is i fixed the ice chest drain leak at the thru hull
new thru hull and new 3/4 hose routed up and capped off
old original 1988 ice chest thing is out, will get a 12 volt fridge or maybe a real ice chest
chased water pump for hours, found it, i will need to cut an access in a cabin bulkhead, which i am not going to do until last.
i did find the power panel that was labeled WATER pump has 12 volts to it, and at the post on the fused switch. that was to feed to the pump is not there. i searched the entire harness int eh the back panel area and could not find a stray or alone wire
soooo
i need to run a jumper down through the wire chase to the switch at the sink and see if it turns on the pump.
i think maybe sometime since 88 the cheesy switch at the sink failed and then somebody yanked the wire for some unknown reason
removed the 1988 porta potty
found the pump out hose routed through the small anchor locker had a tear in the rubber grommet where it passed into the cabin, so when anchor locker got wet, the water ran down inside cabin to the lower bilge and left a stain on the carpet way up front

i am not putting in a pump toilet so the hose will be removed and a water tight deck plate installed in the anchor locker just in case i decide later to put in a pump out head
