Default Anyone else see this in Powerboat????

Jan 03 issue page 12 - 13 Hot Shots = 29 Fountain....fine OK sick of seeing them in Powerboat but thats OK. Another Fountain test..(you best sleeping imitation)

Page 14 -15 32 Fountain add advertising $118,749...yes your thinking good deal huh.
read fine print la di da, yada yada yada twin 350 MPI, top speed 66+, steering silent choice, custom paint etc..all good stuff, cool no bare bones boat. This is a good attempt to move product.

OK Now the part I dont get..

Page 88 test of 29 Fountain.
Twin 320 Horse merc mx 6.2mpi.
Good parts, not bare bones. Nice package if Fountains your thing.
Here is what I dont get.
base retail 127,254
as tested 133,932 (the motors were an upgrade from the 350mpi, go figure)

Why would the 29 be that much more dollar. You would have to be the biggest IDIOT to consider the 29 if your looking at this magazine.
Why would Fountain let this happen?

Am I the only one that feels discomfort in this?
Not that 130k is not a great price for a 29 footer(OK tongue in cheek, what a rip-off this is, but I guess people pay it???????)

I know its a high retail price in the tests and no one probably pays them, but come on.
I am still not sure what bothers me more...130k for the 29 or the fact the add for the 32 is almost 15 K less.

Or the fact that they list that 29 as over 30 "with the swim platform"!?!? 32' to be specific (if I read it right).

Jb,

I thought the same exact thing when I read the prices on the 29 test. The add for 118K for the 32 has been running for about 2 months now, so I did notice.

Also, they say the 29 is 32' including the platform....Is this a typo?

I couldn't agree more!!! Earlier this month I, too, was trying fit this scenario together. I don't get it either...

Why would anyone pay significantly more for the 29 vs. the 32?

WoW !! I cannot imagine a 36" wide swim platform on a 29 !! That is HUGE ! That's over 10% of the boat is swim platform...heh, heh.....that sure doesn't add any weight does it?
