Best of luck in your search. Not to sound pretentious but...Skater, everything else...ISN'T! To use T2x's line, you are either in a Skater or following one. You don't need big power because a Skater just eats up whatever you can throw at it. I hope you enjoy whatever boat you choose.

Uncle Toys , thanks for the very informative post.
truth is , im kinda undecided on whether to get a cat or not.
i love the way they look and handle , however , the insurance is certainly a big concern as well as where i boat. 26 ft.--28 ft. may not be big enough for the loto soup and anything bigger just isnt in the budget.
Shane , skater , i wish.....

Sorry so long to respnd but I think the 2600 Amewrican Offshore is the best all around. The lake I boat on is a maller shallow lake with a ton of cross chop and my 26 ao handles it great. It has high side and windscreens so you a really down in the boat while you are driving. Also under in the front there is a cuddy area which i can sit up in and me and my girlfriend change up there all the time. I have ridden in alot of other cats and will not name them that either propuse alot or chime walk, or hop or feel sloppy at low speeds and the American Offshore does none of these. It also get on plane with ease and can stay on plane down to 15mph. It is also fast and handle great at all speeds.
