Chicago Boat Show Comments

What did you think of the Chicago Boat show? I have attached my comments below and am interested in what other attendees thought about the show.

We were at the show today (Friday). It was great. There was a good selection of go fast boats this year.

Fountain
Sonic (got on Looney Toons boat, he wasn't there)
Sunsation
Black Thunder (finally met Boatme)
Donzi
PowerQuest
Nordic
Eliminator
Envision
Baja

Gran Sport Center and Riverview are definitly supporting the high performance effort in Chicago Land

The crowd was light and we got to spend a lot of time on the boats.

Everyone was very nice and very willing to talk. The tone was different than last year:D

US1 Fountain 01-05-2003 05:15 PM

Enjoyed it.
46 Black Thunder and the Sonics got my vote.

Lot of them thar aluminum tunnel hulls and boats with recirulating coolers.

Payton 01-05-2003 05:18 PM

There were a lot of people there and I think more performance boats than last year.
The Black Thunder was way cool!! So was Looney's new Sonic. Lots of awesome MitcherT paint jobs!

And it was cool to see so many OSO people. Hope everyone got home safe last night. The roads got a little slick.

Vonbongo 01-05-2003 05:28 PM

What? No pictures? :D

Waterfoul 01-05-2003 05:30 PM

I had fun. But I ALWAYS have fun!!!

It was nice to see so many old OSO friends and make some new ones. Thanks to Cashbrain for setting us up at a really nice restaurant. Opa!!!!! LOL!!! Good food, good friends, good time.

As for the boats, Loony Tunes is gonna be the envy of most boaters where ever he goes. :)

An how about those Sea Lions. :) :)

I consider myself really lucky to have been able to sit in the pilots seat of the Donzi 38 ZX. What a seat!! What a view!! What a boat!!! This again proves that it's not what you know, but who!!!

It was great seeing all the OSO members walking the show on Saturday. A small group of us went out to Greek Town for dinner after the show. I wish more could have made it. Thanks Cash for setting up the restaurant. It was nice seeing old friends and meeting many new ones. I hope we can get another OSO get together organized like last year. Everyone I mentioned it to thought it would be fun.

Looney Tunes' boat is Awesome! He will be the envy of many boaters this year.

This is our group from Greek Islands. Sorry I missed getting pictures of WARRIORMAN, Kathy & Tom and NYKAMP, Steve & Krista who had to leave earlier.

Red Stripe 01-05-2003 06:20 PM

I went on Friday and had a blast!! Lots more performance boats then the shows I am used to going to (Grand Rapids). Got to meet a few members including MitcherT!!

Hope to make it with you all next year!

candyman35 01-05-2003 06:28 PM

Todd,
Wish I could have met up with you guys on Friday. This work thing is wrong. :( When the boat raffle???;)

Dan

candyman35 01-05-2003 07:01 PM

Thanks Cash! :D :D :D

Waterfoul 01-05-2003 07:06 PM

I told that chick to get out of the way!!! LOL!!!

Damn that was a long ride home dragging that little car all the way. Thing got hung up on the rear diffy. Too cold and snowy to crawl under there and get it loose. Oh well. :D

Intolerant1 01-05-2003 07:13 PM

Waterfoul, Im leaning on the wall. Sorry it looks like Im giving you the rabbit ears...just worked out that way.

h2owarrior 01-05-2003 08:14 PM

It would have been great to meet everyone.....Although I am not sure everyone would have wanted to spend the evening with us and our kids:eek:

Candyman.....Keep us posted on the run this summer. We've got the AT all cranked up and ready to go:D

Yeah, right   LOL!!

You can still buy me some beer!! :D :D At that little bar in Northport. :)

Quiet Storm 01-05-2003 08:45 PM

We had a great time at the show and the restaurant except when I started talking about cats. I got the feeling the dogs were going to be set loose on me:eek:

I wasn’t too sure about that gleam in Waterfouls eyes when I mentioned that I had a 16 year old daughter either.

We are planning to send her to a convent for safe keeping.:eureka:

Intolerant1 01-05-2003 08:56 PM

Candyman, we need a video ruling. Can you view the original and get back to us :)

Back4More 01-05-2003 09:04 PM

We got there on Friday at noon and stayed till close.
Talked to Wyatt Fountain for about an hour about everything related to them and boats.
Got very buzzed with my 2 other buddies and really looked alot of boats over.
I also noticed that the mood was better at this show too...must have been a good sales year.

Cord 01-05-2003 09:15 PM

Hey, we sure did have a good time! It was alot of fun to drool and write blank checks! I was ready to take that 22' Eliminator home!

If you are trying to find my mug in the pic, I'm standing behind the fine lady in the pink shirt. MIKE! Where is your hand! Damn it man! If you're groping my wife again, I'm gonna hafta hurt you! :D

Roger 1 01-05-2003 10:23 PM

Had a great time at the resturant and after that at the bar. I enjoyed meeting all of you and am now able to put faces with your names. I would especially like to thank the ''CASHMAN'' for setting up a really great time for all of us. Once I got over my fear of the waiter trying to set me on fire I actually enjoyed his
''cheese pyrotecnics''. I made pretty good time getting back to kankakee but then again I 57 isn`t to buisy at midnight.
I enjoyed the displays at the show and seeing LOONYTOONES new boat. I went back again today to look around some more and took some time to go through the Black Thunder that was on display, awsome! I also heard rumors at the show of an upcoming ''FOUNTAIN FEST'' this summer in Chicago. Does anyone know anything about this? Will Reggie be there?

:D

Intolerant1,
After further review there is not indisputable evidence to overturn the call! :D

Cord,
After checking out the close-up you may have an issue with Foul. :p :D

B4M,
Sorry we missed you guys. I had a half hour chat with Wyatt also. His hears are still ringing about high water pressure. ;)

QS,
What were you thinking about mentioning the 16 year old? I'm surprised Travis hasn't requested pictures yet. :D

h2owarrior,
Email cashbrain to put you on the mailing list. He has the tentative schedule going out in a few weeks for the COPS events. There is also a rumor going around that the Thunder Run may be making a return to Chicago. That use to be a great event when the lake cooperated. I also plan on getting some simple runs together. All in all it's going to be a busy summer. I can't seem to make it the FL to check out those AT's so I need to make sure you guys bring them up here.

Hey Roger,
Midnight!! I guess you guys had a little more ouzo after I left. I'd ask Cash about that Fountain thing. He has an answer to everything. :p

Did I mention Vicki really loved the 38 Sonic. Maybe we need a Sonic fest also???

Dan

Roger 1 01-05-2003 10:58 PM

I like the the new spelling! That was`nt so hard now was it? I had a great time hangin out with you yesterday and learning a little bit more about life in the big city. Once the gentleman got done explaining to me that he was`nt trying to ''carjack'' my truck, things went a little smoother. How was I to know!, we do`nt have ''Valet parking'' down here in Kankakee, there`s always plenty of room in the'' Wall Mart ''lot!

Steve_H 01-05-2003 11:00 PM

does foul only have one tooth :D

Dan

No word yet on the raffle, I'm game but who knows:confused:

We will get over to your side of the pond this summer and hang out!! Hopefully in something alittle larger than the current boat.

candyman35 01-05-2003 11:07 PM

Red Stripe,
I'm sure we could find you a ride.
Dan

Roger 1 01-05-2003 11:16 PM

Dan, I did`nt have any Ouzo. I stayed there and shot the s--- that late ''normally aspirated''! Just think of the fun I could of had with a couple of pounds of ''boost''!
Great pictures by the way. heeeyyyy wait just a doggone minuite!
If we were in a '' Greeek '' resturant, whats with the ''Native American'' upholstery on the chair in the foreground?

That is the prototype of the jacket that Cashbrain offered to all the OSO members that came to the Chicago show this year! I believe I have over 7,000 witnesses to his offer!!!! :p :D Jack, you’re the best! BTW, I'd like mine in large.

Thanks,
Dan

Intolerant1 01-05-2003 11:38 PM

Thanks!! I hope to have something else myself by then.

I've already got the fever hard from the boat show and a ride would put me over the top:D

candyman35 01-05-2003 11:46 PM

Intolerant1,
Works for me. :p :D Did you remember to leave a mailing with Cash??? I'd hate to think anyone was left out of his generous offer. ;) I wonder what the lady’s version will look like. Knowing Cash it will be worth the wait.

Dan

MnFastBoat 01-06-2003 05:55 AM

It was great meeting all of you.
Sorry to those I did not personally get to shake hands with.
Was well worth the time and effort ot come over to the other side. :)
Sorry I did not post last night but when I got home I went ot bed :(
This cold started kicking me in the arse. I think i have had just a little to much NiQuil the last 2 days. Hell, I even bought some before I grabbed the motel Sat night :(

Hopefully things go good and I just might have to pull the ole boat out there for one of Cashbrains's COPS runs. That is unless people think my little cat might be too small :(
As usuall hte Black Thunder was awesome. Looney's Sonic was tremendous :) What I could do with that much money :)

Take care all and see you real soon. :)

Cash:
Thanks for getting the dinner together I had a great time.

I also heard the rumor that Dan (Candyman) was doing some sort of Foutian Run this year, he was saying that it will be the biggest thing Chicago has ener seen.

I would like to thank everyone for making it a great night.

Wally 01-06-2003 08:23 AM

well for the first time since i can remember i missed the boat show! between getting the wrong carpet and the trans on the jeep going out on me it was not a good weekend! Sorry i missed everyone, hopefully i can meet everyone this summer some time. :)

But on the bright side i have a new Tahoe to drive! :D

Looney Tune 01-06-2003 09:05 AM

Hey guys, thanks for all of the comments on the boat. It was nice seeing faces to go along with the OSO board names. I can not believe that Jack used the head on the boat right in the showroom. (#2). ;)

MrCIG 01-06-2003 10:15 AM

Looney Toone,
We were at the show in Jan 1. The boat looks great.
It's really a step up from your Dads old Roamer;)
We will have to hook up over the summer and I'll tell you how I know you.

Mark

Marie Awesome 01-06-2003 10:50 AM

Additional Cops Events

I have two more COPS events to plan for next year!

APBA Offshore - IS COMING TO MILWAUKEE (At least it is on the schedule for the next few days, you never know with their last minute changes) AUGUST 8-10

Great Lakes Silver Cup - in Grand Haven August 28 - September 1.

I will plan the COPS event to Milwaukee. Who is planning the run to Grand Haven?

It was great to see everyone at the show. I was impressed by the Black Thunder, Sonic and Donzi! Almost made me think about giving up my luxury barge (Ooops, I meant Baja).

Candyman - I will help you plan the Fountain Run as long as you don't laugh to hard when I pull up to the dock!

How about a Baja run???

Great meeting everyone on Saturday.

Steve

SmilingBob 01-06-2003 01:00 PM

Mr. Cig,
I was at the show also on Wed, it would have been nice to run in to you. The show was a lot less crowed that day, I was able to talk to the people and not have to worry if I was keeping them from making a living.

Stevel
The run to Milwaukee should be a great time, if you need help setting that up please feel free to ask me.
