Not sure, but my guess would be that your Johnson is as old as the rest of your body..................

Definitely older than an early 70's Evenrude 9.9 we have. My guess would be early 60's????

No, that's older than 60's - a buddy has a 61 Evinrude Fastwin and it is MUCH more modern looking than that.

He also had some mid-50's Wizards (a Super 6 and Super 10) that were more in line with the appearance of that Johnson (although I think they were STILL more modern looking than that one).

My official guess is EARLY 50's.

Doug, it's probably from the 40's, get the numbers off it and there are a couple of sites we could check them on. Have you caught my disease?

I may be able to help, I have a manual from Johnson and it lists all the models and years. Also has original costs from 1922-56. Everything is based on model #'s so see if you can find them. Should be alpha numerical IE: J-25 was made between 1925 - 1932. Amazing that it still runs!
I am trying to scan and post the page you need, however I keep getting the error page becouse the file is to large.

I think I have it, I found photos in the manual and there seems to be a match. Looks like a HD-20-25 made in between 1941-1949 not before or after. Serial #'s should nail the exact year for you!

I love those old motors. I hope one day to start a collection of them
