Just bought a couple of pairs of the new sock absorbing Sperry's. Great for the back. I've worn boat shoes for so many years, and have never had any issues yet. Black soles, NOOOOOO..Keep your clogs and crocks and ugly all terrain knobbies away as well. Use some 303 on the seats, everything wipes off like nothing, and people don't fall either.

It's clear that most folks don't wear shoes... However, for the folks that don't wear shoes, what do you do in rough water or under way?

In all my boating years I've found it safer for me and my passengers to WEAR sneakers while I am running...

Also, walking up on the deck after a fresh waxing I found it much safer for my guests to wear sneakers... If the deck is dry, barefoot is fine...absolutely no socks allowed up there.

Regardless of my rules, I always ask others boaters what their preferences are before stepping foot in the vessel.

I agree with Thunder Roy!!!! a man that truely knows how to boat and a legend in Active Thunder history!!

With these guys that put dark carpet that gets hot and the grooved vnyle flooring that is uncomfortable. Take them off getting in and out and not on decks or engine hatches.
If someone loves carpet so much then get boarding mats.
Besides I believe you need the traction in rough water or support on long runs.
Like rub rails..boat shoes are what the name implies!!
But I do honor the owners wishes.
But while I'm on my soap box ..let me say it gives me fun entertainment to see people on the bow of the dark color painted decks in the summer time..ahh..the boating two-step!!
ouch! ouchee!! it phuckin' hot!!!!!!!!!!!:evilb:

We were on Beaver Lake in Ark and a pontoon fliped. GO figure, anyway we were at the dock and the fire rescue guys wanted a ride out, so I said SHOES off they said No problem, The the state police came up and wanted to ride also
I said NO SHOES he looked at me Pizzed like and said well I would have to write you a ticket anyway for the beer! So we pushed off and left him on the dock. SEE YA O yea DRY COUNTY if anybody else goes there.

I saw that this post was brought back to life after being dead for a while. I just wanted to put my two cents in and offer a plug for a close friends company. We do not allow shoes on our but but I have just spent the last 18 months restoring her back to better than new. (28 Bertram Baron Project in classic offshore forum) There is another option and here is the link http://www.ozonesocks.com/yacht-saver-ankle-sock.html
We always keep a few pair onboard for our guests who don't want to be bare foot. Another benefit is they offer superb grip when walking on the deck. Just my opinion!

Absolutely gorgeous Bertram! You don't mind if I walk all over it in my street shoes do you? No shoes on my boat. Bare feet only. If you are ever invited aboard someone's boat, pop off your shoes first. Even if they allow shoes the gesture will be appreciated.
