Question Maintenance And Selling Boats

Hey Gang:

I am wondering about the phrase made in ads ‘All Maintenance Records Available’. How detailed do you get with your record keeping? I have a folder for the boat (vehicles as well) that lists and has receipts for everything from an oil change to engine replacement. I feel it is an asset when you are trying to sell it. I sold a 93 pickup that had more than average miles and the reason the buyer bought it over lesser mile vehicles he was looking at is because of my annul retentive record keeping!

This is a hypothetical question. If I were to buy a used boat from you ‘as is’, and I had it for a considerable time, say at least the first month, or longer, is it reasonable for me to be calling you if I had a mechanical problem to discuss a fix. I am not talking about getting any monetary restitution or expecting the previous owner to go out of his way but nothing more than to get a ‘history’ of something that might have lead up to the problem I am having. What would be your opinion about this?

When I sold my 67 Mustang fully retored. I got a call about 2 years later from the guy, I was happy to help him out with his problem. It was nice to know the car had found a good home.
