Ya, that's only $126.25 cents per member...

In all honesty, I don't think that 1M dollars would even come close to what it would take to prepare and be competitive in this kind of race.

Why do I think you have already hade a Pow Wow with the Vegas Boys on this one. I think its a great idea and would bring alot of exposure back to the sport. The Builder could afford it, but would they pay. I am sure Bobby would fork over some dough because his boat could last. Skip Might put up some money to hold his "Image Campaighn" The Porter family has spent alot on racing and events and has tryed (To no Avail) to bring back this sport.
Another group is the old racers, The Movie star type. Bring out the Gesers..Don Johnson, Chuck Norris, maybe James Cain could boost up the Ensure level and run again. There is alot of money out there but nobody has taken the time to put humpty dumpty back together.
With all of the freakin "Challange" TV shows and "Monster Garage" fame the timing could be perfect if pitched to the right person and shown as a "How they were built" show

My one BIG question:
Does the Million go in Stinsons Escrow Account???

To make this work bump to $$$ to 10 mil, I mean come on a million is the signing bonus for a 6th round draft pick. TV could raise 10 mil sponcership quick. This would be Reality TV at its best! Make the course go up or down the coast making the boats stay within 1/2 mile of the shore, that way every community can take part and boats could get big $$ sponcers. Love to see it!

I know of a guy from Toms River, NJ who made the run to Fl. I believe he did it in his Formula at the time. (I could be wrong on the type boat, but I do know it's smaller than his current boat.) But I do know he blew a drive on the way down. He also has the purse to do it. I gotta ask my bro for the exact details.

Do you really need a $1,000,000 purse? Most of us would do it for nothing but the exposure. You only live once and what a thing to remember for the rest of your life win or lose.
Randy

How about something shorter to start? The coast of Florda Or around Long Island.

TYPHOON,

How about reviving the Miami-Nassau-Miami race for starters? Although, I think the distance and conditions would be a better equalizer in a Miami-New York race. The tortoise and hare would be better paired.

Inshore circuit racing is too predictable. Bring back offshore!

My bet would be on a 54+' Hatteras with 16V92's. (4) superchargers (4) turbo-chargers and plenty of range. The guy I work for fishes million dollar bill fish tournaments regularly. That big old boat jumps on top of the water and runs like you woud not believe.
